When my fiancee and I decided to move from New Jersey to California, it was important to me to find a reputable moving company. This was going to be the biggest move of my life, so I wanted someone I could trust. After getting a number of quotes from different companies, I started reading reviews on Super Jet. The reviews were outstanding - five stars on Yelp, four-plus on mymoverreviews.com, etc. I decided to go with Super Jet even though I was quoted cheaper prices from other companies simply because I wanted the peace of mind associated with those reviews. What followed was one of the most ridiculous experiences of my life.

My initial conversations with Jake, the sales rep, seemed very informative. He quoted me a price over the phone based on a list of possessions I gave him, and said the delivery would take 7-14 days. I signed up for a July 1 pickup, and said that the earliest day we'd be able to receive delivery was July 8 since we were driving through the south and taking our time. God forbid Super Jet would drive straight across the country and beat us to Los Angeles. So I said July 8. The movers showed up late but were generally professional and helpful in regards to the pickup.

On July 10, I decided to call and check on the delivery. At that point, I noticed that it was increasingly harder to get ahold of Jake. Once they had my deposit and the half of the cash I fronted at the pickup, Jake always seemed to be in meetings. I eventually had to settle for a revolving door of rude and unprofessional service reps at the New Jersey location. The first was Toni. When I called on July 10, Toni matter-of-factly told me that they had 21 days to make the delivery. When I told her that I was informed 7-14, she got loud with me and said "well I don't know who told you that! We have 21 days!" So I figured 21 days from July 1 and reset my expectations for July 22. I was disappointed, but figured it could be worse. I was right.

On or around July 16, I called again to follow up. It was at this point I was told that it was 21 BUSINESS days, and that clock didn't start until the July 8 "earliest pickup" date. Now the expectation was reset to August 4. I tried several times to speak to supervisors, and was ultimately told by the supervisor "Lisa" on July 22 that I was basically out of luck... the contract stated 21 business days, I signed the contract, and if I had accrued additional costs or inconveniences from having to buy new stuff, that was my own fault.

On or around July 29, I called once again to check on the delivery. I was told, very rudely, by Toni, that the truck would be leaving on Sunday or Monday and that I should call back then. When I started to question this, she immediately went to the 21 business days thing again. When I informed her that 21 business days would put the delivery on August 4 (the Monday that it was set to leave New Jersey), she said that a supervisor would work out some sort of discount for us. Upon speaking again to Lisa, we were told that the discount could not be calculated until 24 hours before delivery, because it was contingent upon how late they ended up being.

We were contacted by the driver the day of the delivery, and Lisa gave us a take-it-or-leave-it $100 discount. This was, of course, insufficient in my eyes, but I knew that arguing would get me nowhere. After finally receiving all of our things on August 14 (45 days after pickup), I logged on to various sites to add a rare negative review to Super Jet's glowing history. It was then I found that the positive reviews were seemingly fakes - all of the excellent five-star Yelp reviews had been removed. In their place were 14 one-star reviews from the last three months, all telling similar horror stories to mine. It is my belief that none of the excellent reviews I read prior to making my decision were from real people, and were just written by Super Jet in an effort to create an image that I fell for.

I was lied to by Super Jet many times over. I was treated rudely and discourteously. My fiancee and I had to spend the first five weeks in our new home with an air mattress, a small TV, and three outfits apiece. Super Jet seems to be running the same scam on everyone. Do not let it happen to you. Don't give these guys a dime.
