I contacted Sweetie Pies Petting Zoo and hired them to come and bring two ponnies for my son's first birthday party. They never sent me a written confirmation or anything and I sensed some informality on the company. My mistake not to cancel them...
Checking the weather forecast constantly, I realized there was a strong chance of rain for the day of the party (Saturday), I called them the Tuesday of that week to confirm what their website describes. "They come rain or shine" since they claim they provide tents to assure the success of your event.
The lady reasssured me by saying "we should have a tent in the back of the truck". So I decided not to rent or buy a tent, mistakenly trusting them.
Unfortunately, the weather forecast changed the very last minute and it starting raining 10 minutes before the party started. I had 20 kids included my two in the backyard overexcited in their western hats waiting for the ponnies and this lady showed up with an umbrella, saying "you just have two ponnies, the tents were for the petting zoos".
The kids were soaking wet. We tried so save the situation and try to make the best of it. In the mist of everything I not only dropped and broke my digital camera, I also dropped my one-year old son from the ponny trying to hold the stupid umbrella!!!
To make matters worse, the rain was stronger each minute and after 30 minutes I had to tell her to leave. She charged my husband full price. $175!! claiming she had told the tent was just for petting zoos...
Do not hire this lady, she is dishonet, informal and a complete liar, not to mention a thief. I sent her an email after the party asking her for $100 refund; I'm still waiting for an answer that will never arrive...

How do you know that the client didn't just misunderstand or something and they DIDN'T do anything wrong? I went to the site, the title with the price of $175 is JUST PONIES. I see no mention of tents. There are terms CLEARLY stated on the site and they do address weather (and payments), but not tents. Go to the site Joe (and anyone else reading this). Read packages, terms, and FAQ. It does not sound like they were dishonest to me at all so what FACTS did you use to come to your conclusions, Joe? Their policies are clearly stated and therefore if you don't agree with them, DON'T hire them. Don't hire them and complain later about things you were already aware of or SHOULD have been (you indicate you read that page since it's RIGHT with the rain or shine part so you had to be aware of the terms BEFORE the party and what your options were). The site is VERY clear. It ALSO does not appear they are cruel' to these animals based on ANYTHING in the report or on the site and some petting zoos and exhibitions are used to EDUCATE and gain additional funds to help towards the care of the animals (several RESCUES do things like this for those purposes). Several of their terms seem to have to do with the safety and comfort of the animals involved as a matter of fact (as well as the people). *just my opinions*

SOUNDS LIKE THEY WOULD TELL YOU ANYTHING TO GET YOUR MONEY
IT WASN'T THEIR FAULT YOU DROPPED AND BROKE YOUR CAMERA
IT WASN'T THEIR FAULT THAT IT RAINED.
WHEN SHE SAID," WE SHOULD HAVE... "
YOU SHOULD HAVE ASKED HER TO CHECK AND CONFIRM IT AND YOU WOULD GO AHEAD AND ORDER A TENT.
SHE WAS AFRAID IF SHE DIDN'T HAVE A TENT, YOU WOULD CANCEL AND THEY WOULD NOT GET PAID.
IF I WERE YOU, WOULD REPORT THIS PETTING ZOO TO YOUR LOCAL ANIMAL CRUELTY INVESTIGATORS BECAUSE IF THEY ARE THAT SHORT OF MONEY THEY WOULD LIE TO YOU, THEY PROBABLY AREN'T FEEDING AND CARING FOR THE OTHER ANIMALS IN THAT PETTING ZOO EITHER.
PETTING ZOO ANIMALS ARE SUBJECTED TO ALL KINDS OF ABUSE.
