Syntax Corporation REBATE RIPOFF 37" LCD TV + 7 MONTHS WAITING NO REBATE City Of Industry California

Summary:

I purchased a Syntax Olevia 37" LT37HVS LCD HDTV Thanksgiving weekend of 2005 which offered a $200 mail-in rebate. Upon receiving the TV, I promptly completed the rebate form being careful to follow their instructions to the letter. I then sent it to their submission address via the US Postal Service with Delivery Verification (delivery is trackable online) which they received 12/19/05. Their rebate form asked for 10-12 weeks for processing and receipt of the rebate check.

After several months of nothing, in March 2006 I went to their web site of syntaxgroups.com to check on my rebate status. It said that that the rebate was "APPROVED" and "CHECK IN PROCESSING". A month later and nothing.

In April 2006, and every month since, I have contacted them via their online form for rebate inquiries where a few days later I receive the following canned reply.

"REL Rebate Submission 70040825. We apologize for the unintentional delay in sending your rebate check to you. Overwhelming submissions and software issues have us in a backlog of checks. We are working feverishly to catch up. Please allow an additional 2-3 weeks for us to get this check to you."

Obviously they are having issues with basic calendar use, as it is now nearly 7 months since the original submission and still no rebate.

They have lost a customer in me and while I have been happy with the product, I have steered friends away from them to another brand due to this issue.

Who else has been or is currently being shafted by this company? I'd be pleased to pursue this matter, out of principal, as far as it will go -- upto and incluing legal proceedings.
