SUN FM and CHEK news both advertised "a free call on your telus cellphone" during their broadcasts, and gave out the numbers #897 & #NEWS. I'v called both on my payntalk "Telus Cellphone". I was charged both the regular airtime, plus a long distance fee equalling more that double the regular rate in total!

Complained to SUN FM and CHEK news. No reply from the news, who still falsly advertise. SUN FM told me in writting that TELUS has told them it is a free call, and didnt understand why the charges. SUN fm agreed on my behalf to stop advertising the call as free. They did tell me that Telus never advised them of the situation or possibility, and that in fact Telus responded to SUN fm that the number IS a free call.

Telus told me that it isnt free on my "payntalk", and refunded the calls later marked as "Goodwill" on my transaction summary..

Thats when I first noticed that my online transaction statement could somehow magically be altered and edited to change, remove add and delete stuff, like notes to the customer, or complete transactions etc. Scary, since this statement is my ONLY record of my transactins and "Account Balance" which is over a hundred bucks.

With Payntalk accounts, you have to top off your account every 30 days, or else Telus turns the phone off and keeps any balance! So, as a precaution, I've set up an auto top up to a credit card via the Telus Website.

This month my credit card shows that Telus double dipped i July, and then biiled me again 30 days later for august.

My Telus statement shows only one July transaction and one August transaction, and report my account balance at 100.50.

My attempts to talk on the phone to Telus have been the same every time I phone Telus to get a problem resolved. Dismal, Frusterating, Lies, Rude, you probably know what I meen if you are actually reading this, right?

When I called TELUS after I noticed I was being overdouble billed for ther advertised FREE cell phone calls, during the resolution process, I asked them to refund my account balance, and turn off my phone and account. The said they could close my acount but that they wouldnt refund any of my account balance. They suggested that I sell my phone and account privatly if I wanted to get my money back. Telus refused to refund my balance, so I kept the phone.

Today I noticed the double dip on my credit card, and I had another dimal frusterating conversation with 4 more Telus reps. My Telus Cellphone dropped the first 2 calls, then i used my SHAW DIGITAL PHONE :) to call Telus.

I got through to "BANA" in the Philipines. She tried so hard to be helpfull, but I must admit, at this popint the only help I want is my account closed, my balance refunded, and never look back.

Eventually BANA put me through to DEAN from Support who refused to listen to me, called me a name and later hung up on me.

Bana actually promised that my account balance would be refunded to my credit card, all 100.50, (no mention of the ammount of the double dipp) but a few months ago, Telus said this was not possible!

Long and short of this story is, be carefull out there, keep your eyes open, dont take any crap from them, and DONT sign a contract with the devil!

Telus blows...

AUTHOR: ReactorCore - (Canada)

POSTED: Saturday, August 29, 2009

I'm with you on Telus being the pits. Anytime I've had a problem with them, they've tried to make me out to be the idiot. Good thing I'm practiced at turning the tables.

The most hilarious part of my bill, is the supposed "value added services" portion of the bill for an additional $60(!) or so a month... no one can seem to explain exactly what "value added services" are! Also, I have a web enabled SmartPhone, and when I first started with them, they actually charged me extra charges for browsing "partner sites" at $2 a pop... Excuse me?? When I asked exactly how I'm supposed to know what sites are "partner sites" of theirs prior to going to a site, and even then, what indicators are given so that I know I'm going to have my wallet raped, their tune changed and they credited my account, but having to watch them like a hawk for surprise charges for a supposed "convenience" that's supposed to make your life easier is more hassle than it's worth.

This continuous stream of crap from them has resulted in my decision to reduce my cell plan to the absolute bare minimum I have to pay (totally basic plan, no extras, no web) and just run out the remaining time on my contract (June 2010), since canceling my plan would cost me $120 per month left. I've moved to Virgin Mobile and have never been happier... Straight up billing, no system access fees or "value added services", good customer support, and if I want to leave them at any time, their termination fees are only $10 per month left in the 3 year contract.

Screw Telus.. cause they're certainly screwing us.
