I received a letter in the mail stating that I had won $100,000 US dollars. Enclosed was a check made out to me from Elizabeth Electric Supply Co, Inc. for $4,800.00.

In the letter it stated that this was to cover $3,800.00 in Government taxes. It said the amount was to be paid either by Moneygram or Western Union. It also stated that when the winning is processed I would receive a final check in lump (some - their spelling) sum payment of $95,200.00 and would be delivered by FedEx or UPS and to call my Claim Agent Mr. Joseph Abugo at 1-289-892-0002 within 5 business days.

I called this Joseph Abugo to find out if this was for real and he said that it was. That I just needed to deposit this check wait until the check cleared, get cash and then call him back and he would tell me what to do next and how to pay the taxes.

DO NOT CASH THIS CHECK! IT WILL BOUNCE LEAVE YOU OWING MONEY!

AUTHOR: Joe - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Wednesday, November 05, 2008

When you go to cash a check, you call the Bank that is on the check to see if the person who issued the check even has a checking account there.

This is a VERY OLD SCAM.

Someone will steal a check from a legitimate business and then they will forge it and send it out to a mailing list of people.

With financial times as hard as they are, people want that easy,b ig money FAST and fall for the scam only to find out that the check will not clear the bank and then they have to pay the money back.

TURN THIS GUY AND THE LETTER OVER TO YOUR ATTORNEY GENERAL.

I THINK THE RCMP or your Provincial police would be the people you need to report this scam to if you live in Canada and you need to give this letter and the fake check for evidence.
