On 7/30/15 Coin Vault hosts Scott Houk and Jim Fisher claimed on live TV that the newly released American Liberty 2015 High Relief gold coin had sold out within a few hours at the mint that very day. They were offering for sale examples they had purchased and were graded PF 70 by the PCGS grading service. Their price was approx. $700 dollars higher than the mint's $1,490 issue price. They extolled their viewers to not miss out on this 'once in a lifetime' opportunity.

The next day, I checked the U.S. Mint website, and found that the coins were not sold out, but were only on back order. Even as of the date of this post, the coins are still available on back order.

Houk and Fisher are guilty of engaging in a shameless and dis-honest ploy, designed to panic their viewers into purchasing these expensive coins, in the unfounded belief that they were no longer available at the mint. Houk and Fisher owe their viewers a retraction and an apology!

ON 08/06 COIN VAULT DOUBLES DOWN ON FALSE CLAIM THAT A NEW GOLD COIN WAS SOLD OUT AT THE MINT!

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Friday, August 07, 2015

INSTEAD OF ISSUING AN APOLOGY AND RETRACTION, ON 08/06/15, COIN VAULT HOSTS AGAIN FALSELY CLAIM THAT THE 2015 AMERICAN LIBERTY HIGH RELIEF GOLD COIN WAS SOLD OUT AT MINT. WINCHESTER Indiana

BODY: For the second time in a week, Coin Vault hosts claimed on their live cable show that the 2015 American Liberty High Relief one ounce gold coin was sold out at the mint. This time it was hosts Scott Houk and Andy Abel. They were, again, peddling examples of this coin which they had, graded by the PCGS grading service in Proof 70, (perfect), condition. Their sale price for the coin was $2,199, a far cry above the mint's $1,490 issue price. (To be clear, the mint does not sell graded coins. Coins purchased from the mint may be submitted for grading to a grading service by the purchaser, for a fee.)

Houk first claimed that these coins were sold out at the mint on a live show on 07/30/15, with co-host Jim Fisher. On the morning following that show, I checked the U.S. Mint website, and found that the coin was not sold out, but was still available for purchase on back order.

Following the 08/06 show, I again checked the U.S. Mint website and confirmed that the coin was still available for purchase on back order.

I'm no attorney, but is there not some law on the books which prohibits using the public airwaves to knowingly deceive persons for the purpose of financial gain? Any lawyers out there?
