When it comes to the consumer I am going to deal in facts so others do not endure what we did. For several years my wife was abusing prescribed pain and other medicines Percocet, Zanax and Prozac.

This was at the point were I was completely lost and did not know how I was going to deal with the issue until I started looking in to treatment rehabilitation services.

I started with alot of phone calls and research to different facilities trying to gain as much knowledge as possible in an area I  knew nothing about and came across a facility in Grand Prairie Texas called The Greenhouse Treatment Center.I spoke with the phone counselor daily for about 1 week and thought I asked all the right question-

Is detox closely monitored?

Do they have phsyciatrist to help with issues that caused this behavior?

Is there continued counseling?

Do they offer a specialist for nutrition?

Do they offer a telephone conference with family members during counseling?

Will she be in a room with someone close to the same age and disease?

Do they work closely with the individual One on One verses just placing them in a large group on a continued basis?

Is there Doctors that work with the person to review the situation and make the adjustments for proper treatment along with other medical situations they may have?

Do they monitor medicines prescribed and ensure proper times and dosage?

If we forget to bring medicines will these be prescribed for her so we have no medical issues?

Is this more a controlled setting instead of a setting were they are more worried about the amount of people they can get in the facility?

Are the men and women separated and monitored so there are no problems or sexual behaviors?

I felt these are all the important question the counselor said YES  to all the above and went into great details in his explanation of the above.

None of this transpired my wife is a diabetic and has a pacemaker and on Sunday when she left she forgot her Insulin needles and pens.

I recieved a phone call by my wife Sunday afternoon and said she forgot her insulin and can I send them to her I then talked with the so called intake specialist and told her I could overnight them because her Insulin is very important and do the want me to send the needles with? The so called specialist said no we can take care of her needles for her Insulin pen.

I spent $95.00 to have them sent next day.

My wife takes one shot at night and come to find out several days later they never obtained her needle tops for her pen and was withdrawing  insulin from her pen and giving her two shots at night becuase the needles they have only hold 30 units and she was on 40 units.

Wait it gets better!

My wife did not see an actual doctor until after about 4 days and this was only becuase I was calling and raising a stink that she has been there for several days, has a pacemaker and is a diabetic and I wanted to know why she has not even seen a doctor yet.

She waited in line at the nurses station for her medicines sometime for 20 minutes and when she did get to the counter they looked at her and ignored her until they were ready to give her the medicine she needed.

Her sugars were raising to dangerous levels of 350 to 400 because they were not monitoring her sugars and she was not seeing a doctor on a daily basis and they kept telling her she needs to eat. This is just absurd if your sugars are 350 to 400 the last thing you need is to eat as this will sky rocket your sugars even higher.

NO couseling the only people that were helping my wife get through anything was the other people there for the same reason.

I had several conversations with staff members in regards to her treatment one was a so called Director of Nursing and she did not even know the correct medicines my wife was on.

After about 9 days my wife finally recieved her needle tops for her insulin pen and the first day my wife gave herself insulin and  the staff was pulling insulin out from her pen prior and never released the air so my wife gave herself 40 units of air and not insulin.

It is funny that my wife was sent there for abusing Prozac, Percocet and Zanax and after detox without seeing a specialist, or what was even close to a doctor they put her back on Prozac. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT PICTURE.

Male staff trying to have sex with female patients. other males in for treatment walking around by the woman with shirts off, being herded around like cattle, standing in long lines to get medicines needed for health, nursing staff saying to one another in regards to my wife "she should just leave."

The CEO said because my wife is leaving they will not take her to the airport "she needs to find her own way to the airport."

Never seen a phsyciatrist.

Took several emails and phone calls by me for my wife to even see a doctor.

Never had conference counseling.

Had to request on a sheet of paper to see the doctor.

The head doctor Talmage my wife was told could not be approached.

Improper medical treatment.

It was not until the day all the staff found out I was pulling her from this facility is when they all got together to try and help her.

I am going to do everything possible with my insurance company to deny any and all claims to this facility due to no or a lack of proper medical treatment with all of her conditions.

My advise stay as far away from this facility as possible the only thing they want is a head count. Stick with the facilities that only house a small group this way you can be confident your loved one gets the help they deserve.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

A sad story

AUTHOR: Ex-Employee - ()

POSTED: Saturday, May 31, 2014

I am a former employee and saddened by this report, but unfortunately agree with some of the sentiments. I am not familiar with this case but agree the Greenhouse and American Addiction Centers should be avoided. In my opinion, neither is a healthy place for someone sick with addiction and needing help. Nor was it a healthy place to work, at least not for me. There are some good staff who have big hearts and wonderful intentions, but I question the management both locally and at the corporate office and that of the owner, Michael Cartwright. I am aware of former staff members having inappropriate relationships with patients while those patients were living at the center and in treatment. When management found out about these incidents, they did take appropriate action but one wonders if they are setting the stage in some respects. Supervisors got away with dating their subordinates. And members of upper management were allowed to date each other even though they're married (and not to each other) without reproach. How can you teach patients about having boundaries and making healthy choices when some staff members don't reflect that in their conduct? How can you believe what the company preaches? I would never send a family member to a place where some employees seem to be more focused on developing personal relationships at work - meaning fulfilling their own personal needs - rather than helping save lives. There is so much more I could say but I will not. If you have a loved one who is suffering from addiction, please think twice about any residential treatment center you send them to. Again, having worked for American Addiction Centers and at the Greenhouse I would never send a family member to either.
