My husband and I were looking to get a fence built in May 2012. I was going to go with a friend of mine who builds them, but chose not to because I would've had to wait a month. Since I wanted to get it do e ASAP, I contacted several companies online and then on Kijiji. Most people were offering to come out within 3 weeks, but again, I wanted something sooner. That's when I received an email from "The Next Day Guys", saying that they could, in fact, be out the very next day. Well, there is probably a reason as to why they're so readily available. It is two brothers, by the way.

They came out the next day (2.5 hours later than we were told), so we called and they stated that they were in Rona or Home Depot (can't remember exactly) still buying the lumber. They stated that it was reallllly busy at 9 am. Okay, that's fine. They show up around 11:30 and say they'll get as much done as possible that day, in hopes they don't have to come out again the next day (obviously trying to get as many jobs in and make as much money as possible doing a lacklustre job).

We had a full back fence and one side to build. Our yard is fairly big, so they did not quite complete it in time. So, they asked for some of the money before (I can't remember, but I'm pretty sure we gave them half). They showed up again the next morning and rushed through the last part very quickly. I mentioned this to my husband, but he just said "they know what they're doing" gah! Also, the wood we purchased looks very nice, so it wasn't obvious other they had done such a poor job, at first.

Anyway, when they were done, we gave them the rest of the money (almost $5000!) and they left. Well, within 2-3 weeks, I noticed that some of the boards were loose. I also noticed that one of our gates was a struggle to open (my husband works away, so I was by myself). I had to move the lawn mower from the front yard to the back. It took me 15 minutes to even get the gate to budge. I called my husband and asked him to call Dave to get him out to fix the loose boards and this gate.

He tried and tried and tried (his number kept saying he was out of the service area), which may have been the case, because he was working up north too. So I continued to try later later in the week. I, too, couldn't get a hold of him, so I decided to fix the loose boards myself (we have two large dogs and the neighbours were on my case about the, getting through). Our neighbours had also paid a portion, as part of this horrible fence was bordering their yard too.

As the summer went on, I kept noticing more and more stuff that was wrong with it. More boards were loose, they used crappy nails to board them together, they skipped several boards and, not only was the front gate insanely difficult to open, the back gate was coming apart. I'd had it! So I called and called and had my husband call. I also sent several emails (which I still have!) to no avail. Finally on August 22nd, I received an email stating that he had been working on the rigs with no reception. He said he was still out there for two more weeks, but would "swing by" when he got home and fix everything.

He also said he'd "attempt" to call us within the next couple of days. Well, we never heard from him, he wouldn't answer our calls or respond to my emails. I continued to email for about a month after, but no response. I was tired of trying and decided to fix the boards that bordered our neighbours, but the gates are still a mess and so are some of the boards on the back fence. I just wanted to get this out there in case anybody is looking to get a fence built. I have a friend who does a MUCH better job and there is a reason as to why he's booked up and these guys aren't.

P.S. they offered us a "warranty" for up to a year too...in case anything happens to the fence. They are obviously not going to honour that either, but I will definitely post it if they do! I'm letting them know via email that I have posted to this website, as well.
