I was approached by my Sales Rep with The Prospecting Department yesterday afternoon and asked to share my experience with the firm.  From what I understand they are currently interviewing their existing clients.

My Experience was quite different.  I also rec'd several emails from TPD before purchasing a list and I was also hesitant.  I have been in the business for over 24 years and have no need for a list, but my nephew has recently joined our team.  I thought it may be a good opportunity for him to get his feet wet.

We called through the list from head to toe.  Not several phone calls over a few days, but we truly worked this list, as it was my money that paid for it not the money of my firm.  We scrubbed the list internally and lost about 10% which was expected as we hold quite a bit of the market share since the merge.

The 10% was replaced in a timely fashion as promised by my sales rep.

These individuals were not waiting on the other line for our call by any means.  None of the consumers were "lay downs".  We knew this as we paid less than $.50 per lead.  The list did meet the criteria for the most part.  90% of the retirees were actually retired and did have assets that were still in the position as described by TPD.

I purchased a 2nd list as well.  People who had moved into the area, but had advisors still out of state.  This was also a good list, again, nobody said "I'm so glad you called I was just writing you a check", but the information was accurate.  This is really all you can ask for when purchasing a list.

When we finished the first list we lost 10% on the internal scrub, we also turned in about 3% that was bogus information.  The retiree list was our favorite as we uncovered several accounts that were valued over 1m.  We acquired one of these accounts and still have the other in the works.  My nephew hit a couple singles and independently took on his first 2 accounts that met the min. as described by my sales rep (these are the first accounts that were not given to him by our team)

By the time we finished the 2nd list were were only able to acquire 1 account on the first pass through.  This acct also met the min as described by my sales rep, and my nephew is now handling family referrals from this individual.

All in all this was a good list we brought on 4 new accounts (one of which was over 1m).  My nephew has built up his confidence and I finally after 24 years in the business have found a good lead list.

I have spent thousands on lists in my years, Testing, Trying, Exploring.  I am defending this firm not only because I was asked to share my experience, but because I want to be able to purchase listings from them in the future.

All Business opportunities are worth being explored.  It was a small investment for a good return.  I understand not all lists can be good, but not all lists are bad either.

Here is what your employees are sending out through emails,
"All of our information is self reported and survey based via direct telemarketing and direct email from large directories of retirees, new homeowners, etc., from the nations top compilers. Once that group is funneled down to only the best prospects that fit our criteria, then we profile every lead to the best of our capabilities. We market and sell them first come first serve to ONE client, and we do NOT resell or recycle any lists."
Let's have this debate on line so any other agents that google "The Prospecting Department" can get understand we are coming from.
1.  I am convinced that one of your employees created the good Rip off Report.
2.  Don't talk to me about "Professionally," when your employees are flat out lying about the information.  You are going to tell me, and it says it above mind you, that all this information you are selling for $465, is self reported????  Then why does even your good report contest that fact?  It says that the information in accurate, not warm.  Why did not one person I called remember self reporting anything?
3.  Only sold one time?  Why did an advisor in my area find the names that you sold on another site?  I sent him the CD that I received and he said that 99% of the names that I had on there were from a site he uses.  I forgot the name of the site, but will let you know.  It was a site like Infoseek that was used for straight cold lists.  The difference is price is the big thing though!!  So you might not resell the names, but the site that people are paying pennies on the dollar is reselling them.
4.  "who are looking to speak with a licensed agent about starting a life policy."  NOT TRUE!!
5.  ".... come with our 100% MONEY BACK GUARANTEE! Let me know which list...."  Where is my $465?  Why would your employees care if I got my money back?  Why wouldn't he just pick up the phone, call me and tell me that I am getting my money back?  This leads me to believe that you as the owners are making the employees pay the full amount for the guarantees.  I would have to believe that Ryan doesn't have an extra $465 to send my way, so I am the one being schwindled.
 6.  "They are no longer comfortable with money sitting there, they are just not sure what options are available for a rollover. They are looking to roll these accounts out right away, and are just in need of a bit of guidance."  How do you know this?
7.  "All Files scrubbed for Do Not CallAll Files scrubbed for Do Not Call"  This isn't true either.  I use a gryphon system and they weren't scrubbed at all.  I understand you replace them and blah, blah, blah.  Why in the world would I want more junk like I got the first time?
8.  Now that I look at it
"All information is self reported by the consumer
All Files scrubbed for Do Not Call
1 for 1 replacement guarantee on any bad information
All lists are completely EXCLUSIVE TO THE BUYER
1 for 1 replacement on any contact that is already in your system
100% Money Back Guarantee[ if no business is written in 90 days"
Is any of this true? NOPE!

As the owner of your company, I understand you are trying to take this off this internet so you can scam other people.  It isn't right though what you and you are employees are doing.  Are the years you have been here scamming people, worth an eternity in hell that you will be spending?  You must find employees for your company at "we have no morals and don't believe in God's teaching" meetings.  I pray that none of you have children because they must be proud to know the bread they are eating is stolen from people that are making it through honestly.  Please provide with me proof and rebuttals to my objections.  I am sure anyone else that googles your company would love to hear the truth for once.

The owners of TPD do the best we can to honor all guarantees and have physical copies of all refunds and reimbursements that have gone out.  Please contact the owners directly and we will take care of any loose ends and, or provide proof that the refund has been paid.  I look forward to solving this issue for you and would have been more than happy to settle it professionally.

SCAM FOLLOW UP

AUTHOR: JoVa - (United States of America)

POSTED: Saturday, July 16, 2011

I think it is sad that people can sleep at night doing these sort of things to us. I just started in the business not to long ago, so it's not like I had the extra money to just waste on phone book names. It would have been one thing to actually have someone that was interested, or to have a 401k, but they didn't!! Let me revise my statement, it would have been one thing to actually have a right number!! I would say approximately 35% of the numbers were bad, and only 4% of all the consumers were reachable. I tried to contact the attorney general in CO on Friday, and am still awaiting a call back. If they don't do anything, then I am going to bring suit against this company and put my attorney fees onto the running total. We need to stand up as Financial Advisors and let them know that we are not going to be scammed.
I talked to an attorney that is going to take the case should I decide to move forward. I almost would prefer doing this way as I can include my hours working the lists, costs on the list, loss of revenue from deceptive practices, etc. I will keep all informed about what the CO state's attorney says. I will be posting on the other sites too, so I can at least possibly deter anyone else being out their money. Wish they just gave me my money back, but they messed with the wrong advisor!!

STAY AWAY

AUTHOR: JoVa - (United States of America)

POSTED: Tuesday, July 12, 2011

I used this report as the tipping scale to buy a couple of lists from The Prospecting Department.  I wish I wouldn't had bought anything from this company.  Not one person on my lists of life and rollover leads remembered doing any survey whatsoever, and the information was not accurate.  I would say the information was from a site such as Infoseek, but that information is more accurate than what I got.

I had gotten an email from Ryan Moses about three different lists he had in my area.  I should have known when he had over 1000 people in my area looking for some different kind of "help" (LTC, Life and Rollover) that it was BS.  I was looking for the easy way to a big paycheck.  After talking to Ryan on the phone, I was skeptical as it sounded like something that was too good to be true.  I looked up the company on the internet through google and came across this report.  Not everyone looking for a phone call I could live with, but this report was the report that I decided to go off to buy the lists.  Well that and the 90 day money back guarantee which I will discuss later.   There was a lot of bad press, but some good press as well.  Looking back now, I realize that I was told these people had responded to a telephone call, and this report is telling us that these are cold calls!!  Why are the sales agents at this company telling us these are going to be warm leads????  I received the leads and they were crap!!

I called through the life leads and not one person, that I actually talked to, was interested in life insurance.  The life leads were suppose to be people that didn't have life insurance at work.  This was found out by someone calling these folks and verifying their interest.  How did someone at this company get a hold of almost 400 people, with 200 disconnects and fax lines?????  The rollover leads weren't at all better.  These were suppose to be folks that were retired (not one that I talked to was retired and three were actually dead) that had 401ks that need to be rolled over.  I found a few that actually had 401k plans, but not one of them wanted to touch or were able to move them.

Needless to say I didn't "make a profit" on the lists so I called up to get my money back.   I have been trying to get that money back for 29 days now and counting.  I have left Ryan numerous messages and sent him 7 emails which I still have in my sent folder.  I have not received a call back
or an email back.  I have started the process of reversing my credit card that was used but they want a written letter why I am reversing the charges.  This report is serving as that letter, also.  The leads were not any good and this sales agent doesn't stand behind his money back guarantee.  I should have tricked him into calling me back by telling him that I wanted to buy another list, but I am not going to stoop his level of lying.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!  WHOEVER WROTE THIS REPORT IS LYING AND SO IS THE AGENT YOU ARE GOING TO CALL!!I used this report as the tipping scale to buy a couple of lists from The Prospecting Department.  I wish I wouldn't had bought anything from this company.  Not one person on my lists of life and rollover leads remembered doing any survey whatsoever, and the information was not accurate.  I would say the information was from a site such as Infoseek, but that information is more accurate than what I got.
