Well... the whining you are talking about comes from a very upset and frustated hard working person that feels cheated. Yes, I can take the blame for not reading the contract thoroughly, but as an educated American, I am doing all I can do about it, because I do feel this is UNFAIR, and I am not taking a passive approach towards this. When the time comes for a consumer to sign a contract, it is also the business responsibility to explain all the contract clauses. I would not whine and I would accept my responsibility if they had done their part. Instead, the membership manager opted for omitting these clauses, and believe me, I would not be saying a single word, if he had explained what he should have explained, I would not have the face to do it. Take cell phone companies... yes, I was informed that if I wanted to get a phone at a much cheaper price, I would have to renew my contract for two more years, I get it, and I know I wouldn't have any right to complain about it because they do explain it cleary, and then it's completely up to me. Cable companies... they do explain the contract and that there is a fee if you wish to terminate earlier.... They explain it clearly, they are honest, I get it. I work for a living, nothing is given to me for free. I should have the right to decide where my money is going. I would much rather give my money to places like the YMCA, where they tell you upfront that if you wish to cancel the contract, you need to give a 30 notice, and they are going to charge for the last month. I get it... it's resonable, they are clear and honest. The Rush is making tons of money from people that are not using their facitilities and they are charging anyway and make it almost impossible to cancel a contract. For them to keep a good name, they should have a fair policy stating that if a member wishes to cancel, they can. If that member wishes to cancel it could be due to time constraints, it could be for economic reasons, it could be because of illness, family issues, etc. it does not matter. These members should have the right to have their contract terminated. Have you seen how many people are in the same situation? Do you think it's fair for a business to have free reign to do this while making millions for themselves and bring hardships to working people that cannot afford to have  their money taken away monthly for something they are not using? Yes, I guess I could try to go and use the facilities... but I feel disgust for these people and it makes it very discouraging to want to go to a place like this, don't you think? Thanks for the advice on getting a contract lawyer. I have already filed two complaints through a Consumers' Right Government Agency and BBB. I will keep giving them bad publicity through social media as well. I will exhaust my resources because I am not thinking only about myself, but any other American citizen or resident that needs to have his or her consumer's right respected. 

 They are under ZERO obligation to terminate YOUR contract. See the problem is YOU DID NOT READ WHAT YOU WERE SIGNING!!!!! THIS is the totality of your issue. Had you read what was placed in front of you, YOU would have seen the fine print. But since you did not read the CONTRACT that you signed, you are NOW bound by the terms and conditions of that contract. Stop your whining and try and make this work for you. Because you will STILL be forced to pay for what THEY are legally allowed to charge you for the service. There is ALWAYS some wiggle room in a contract. I would suggest that you take the paperwork you signed and hit up a CONTRACT LAW LAWYER!!! They may be able to help you find this wiggle room. That WILL cost money. Or you can just use the facilities until your contract expires and not renew it.

Its NOT a ripoff when you do it to yourself. YOU failed to read the contract and just signed away. DO NOT DO THIS IN THE FUTURE!!!! You are supposedly an educated American. Meaning you have the skills to protect yourself. You did not use them.

Sorry to be harsh with you, but this is a lesson you NEED to learn. There was a time when an American signed a contract, they lived up to those terms. That time is QUICKLY passing as Americans feel that they are entitled, when in fact THEY ARE NOT!! You have fallen into this catagory. I cannot tell you HOW IMPORTANT it is to read ANYTHING you sign. I dont care if it takes a week to do so. DO NOT SIGN ANYTHING UNTIL IT IS FULLY EXPLAINED TO YOU!!

In the mean time try and enjoy the fitness place. You are stuck paying them, you might as well use it. Consider it motivation to go workout. Youll be damed if your going to give away your hard earned money and get nothing from it.
