I have shopped at the wild side pet store off and on for a while. I was there one afternoon looking at cat stands and the cashier said we have more here in this book. I found one that I really liked and told her to find out how much it would be, when it will be ordered, etc. While I was looking at the catalog, we were talking about my 3 cats, we have mainecoon, siamese and a tortie. I called back a few times later in the week and was told that it had not yet been ordered and the girl that does the ordering will get back to me. At no time was I told that the item that I was ordering was cheap, made for kittens and/or could not be returned.

About a month after my initial store visit, I received a phone call saying that the stand is in, you can ccome and get it and it is $229 plus tax. I was surprised at the price as no one ever gave me a price and the list in the book that I saw was around $140. I told the gentleman that called that I was surprised at the cost and he said that if I do not want it, he would be able to sell it at the store. I told him no, I really liked it and I would be in by Tuesday to get it(this was a Thursday or Friday). I decided to go in the following day and pick it up.

The front desk guy had a young kid pick it up from the back, and bring it to my car. He dropped the box in the back room(I heard the swearing) and then proceeded up front. I gave the cashier the cash and the young man took the box to my car. I then went back into the store to get my change. At no time was I told that the product that I was purchasing was of low quality or that it was not returnable. I got home, put the cat stand together(it was smaller than I thought but it was cute). I brought it in the house with my husband put a little cat nip on it and let the cats go to town playing.

A few weeks ago, the cats were wrestling and a pole that is attach to the top of the stand bent over. I took a look and the plastic piece in the botton had broken. For $229 dollars, I expected it to last at least a few years. The one that we already have has been up for over 4 years. I could not find the receipt and knew that I would need it to do anything.

On Friday June 6, 2008 I was cleaning out my purse and found the receipt. I called up the store and asked for a manager. I was asked what the problem was and I told them. The young man came back on and said that they had nothing to do with it and I needed to contact the manufacturer. I told him that I could not believe that they would not stand behind their probuct and I wanted to talk to a manager and gave him my name and number and he said that someone would get back to me. I waited until Sunday and called the store and asked for a Manager again. He told me that it was my fault that it broke because my cats were too big and I needed to contact the manufacturer.

I went through the whole thing with him about standing behind the merchandise and that nowhere did it say no returns. In fact, it said return with receipt only on the receipt. I told him that I needed their help and they should take it back and deal with THEIR manufacturer and he said that they do not carry those particular cat stands as they are not sturdy. I asked for the owner and he would not give me her name or number. Then when he gave me the name of Meow Town for the vendor, he would not give me the number as it was for ordering only and told me to look it up on the internet. I then hung up.

My Desired Resolution:
I would like a refund and never have to deal with them again. I paid cash and I have my receipt! I am willing to look at other avenues as well. I have tried to find Meow Town on the web and only find their products at stores, not their main #.

Look below at their policy written on their website:

Two Days

AUTHOR: Cory - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Sunday, September 21, 2008

Bought one of those cat toys for Cobweb. The kind that has a base and a foot long spring with a round, cloth ball at the end of the spring. It took Cobweb TWO days to completely shred ALL of the material. There was a perfect circle made up of the material around the base. Nothing left on the end of the spring. I died laughing. She got two days out of it.

Melinda at The Wild Side made things right.

AUTHOR: Kb2002 - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, June 23, 2008

I would like to thank Melinda at Wild Side for making things right. After several conversations with different people, she was able to help me. She returned the cat stand and I got a plain not fancy sturdy cat stand when I went back. They gave me a store credit for my balance and she helped me check out some of my new pond pets.

THANK YOU MELINDA and WILD SIDE
