I placed an order for an HP Printer at a great price on Cyber Monday and Nerds.net charged my credit card immediately. Almost 2 weeks went by and I still hadn't received a shipping confirmation, so I called company. After "customer service" picks up my call, I am put on hold for almost 5 minuts while they try to figure out what happened. At first I'm told that "sorry," we are out of the product... but I say I'll wait, I don't care. Then I'm told, that I basically have no choice that they will give me a refund. I told them that this is an HP printer being sold all over the place and wanted to wait. Finally I get the truth and am told that Nerds.net won't honor the price because it was HP's fault that some promotion the merchant got had been removed.

Well, the problem was that I could have bought the same printer at Sears (on Cyber Monday) at a slightly higher price, but thought that I'd save some money with Nerds.net... a company that I **thought** was reputable. I even filed a BBB complaint against the company and Nerds.net **STILL** refused to honor the price. They never denied they charged my card or that they offered the printer for that price... the argument was a claim of some obscure terms and conditions about pricing, but they never even showed where it said this on their website.

If it wasn't so time consuming I could file a lawsuit for breech of contract against Nerds.net, but it's not really worth it. If you check the company's BBB Report you'll notice that many of the complaints appear to be similar to mine. Regardless, I ordered the HP that was the next step up from Office Max at a great price and it was at my door in a couple days... no hassles, no BBB complaints, no cancelling my order 10 days later, and no excuses.

Just as an FYI... I'm guessing that 90% of the time you'll have no problem with this company.  That said, just hope that you never fall into that 10% that DOES have a problem as this does not appear to be a company that values its relationship with its customers.

"nerds.net" is NOT the same as "thenerds.net"

AUTHOR: The NERDS Group, LLC - ()

POSTED: Thursday, March 20, 2014

The writer of this report incorrectly indicated that "nerds.net" had ripped them off. I am an owner of The NERDS Group, LLC, based in Silver Spring, MD.  Our Internet address is "www.nerds.net" or just "nerds.net".  The company this person had a problem with is "TheNerds.net".

Unfortunately, the writer of the report refers to "nerds.net" in the report title and multile times throughout the report, when he or she should have used "TheNerds.net"

Customers of TheNerds.net often call or email us to complain about problems with their purchases.  We have a standard reply that we send back if we receive an Email complaint of they fill out the repsonse form on our website.  It states:

"You have reached the wrong company.  We ARE NOT TheNerds.Net (a.k.a. Computer Nerds International, Inc.). We are The NERDS Group, a full service IT Consulting, Networking and Web Hosting firm headquartered in Maryland.  If you have inquiries for the computer retailer "TheNerds.Net", their Email address is info@THEnerds.net.  Their phone number is 888-566-6373 or try http://www.thenerds.net/ or info@THEnerds.net.  The NERDS Group is NOT affiliated with nor do we endorse TheNerds.Net in any way.  Thank You."

The confusion often results from people not realizing that a domain name cannot have a space in it like "the nerds.net".

Our company, Network Engineering & Resources Development Specialists, LLC, does business as The NERDS Group and we have an outstanding reputation as an IT Consulting and Services organization.  We are not in the retail business and should not be confused with the company that is the subject of this report.
