Mr. Accario did work on our Manufacture home. We contracted for one price and paid 1/2 the cost up front. mid way through he wanted more money which should have been a red flag... we gave it to him. the items we requested he did not install he instead choose cheaper forms of the products we selected and then towards the end stop retuning calls and we had to fire him. We later learned all the items he did do in the scope of work he did with such poor quality that we now have to hire another contractor to finish and fix the items he did do. NOT ONE thing was done 100% . Do not hire him... he will rip you off.

Ripoff Report Responds to Comment #2

AUTHOR: Ripoff Report Staff - (United States)

POSTED: Monday, December 21, 2020

EDITORIAL REBUTTAL COMMENT:

We are responding specifically to Comment #2 to this Report.

We didn't have to post Rebuttal Comment #2, but Ripoff Report strongly believes in the First Amendment, even when it is about us.  We believe that all businesses will get complaints – deserved or not.  After all, no one can please 100% of the population 100% of the time ... and sometimes people, in general, just suck to varying degrees.

Yes, we have Terms of Service that we expect our users to abide by but much like a speed limit sign, people will abide by the speed limit to varying degrees.  And, unlike a speed limit sign where police officers have radar guns and can tell when someone is speeding, when it comes to content online, we don’t have a way to tell who is telling the truth.  Contrary to some people’s thoughts, Ripoff Report is not an arbiter of facts.  We are not a judge and jury to hear witness testimony, examine supporting evidence, and to be able to question the authenticity of the evidence presented.  Could you imagine if such work had to be done for every single post?  Ever looked up the longest trial in US history?  Let’s be real … that would be practically and financially impossible.  As such, when one party says something is true, and the other party says something is false, we have no way of knowing what the actual, true, story is.

With our limitations in mind, we allow parties, for free, the ability to post Reports and make comments in response to the Report, either supporting the Report, or telling a different side – that perhaps the information is false, that there is mistaken identity, and so on.  Anyone with information to share can weigh in.  More importantly, anyone who reviews the Report will have an opportunity to hear another person’s side or perspective, and make a decision for themselves about what weight, if any, to give the posts.  In this instance, it appears that the individual complained of in this post had done just that ... well, before adding an additional post claiming "Ripoff Report Extortion."

We certainly encourage users to “set the record straight” and tell their side of the story by using the free methods available to them, which are outlined on our FAQs page before they consider other paid Ripoff Report Programs & Services.  Sometimes a well worded Rebuttal Comment is all that is needed.  In other times, perhaps an individual or business complained of in a Report will look for something more – be it a Program (which has varying benefits) through Ripoff Report or by seeking other more traditional routes, such as contacting an attorney regarding potential defamation claims.  Even then, Ripoff Report has provided a host of information (Subpoena Process, info about our Court Order Policy, etc.) to assist parties considering taking legal action in response to a post written on Ripoff Report on our Legal Issues page.

We understand that people are going to get upset based upon our long standing general non-removal position, but we believe our heart is in the right place.  In fact, our website explains why we don’t remove reports

Here it sounds like, from the Comment made, that this person wanted us to simply take their word that the content isn’t accurate and remove it.  We’ve explained why we can’t just unilaterally accept such statement.  We’re not saying this person is wrong … indeed there is a chance that the post could be inaccurate … but either way, we don’t know what the truth is, and we can’t simply take the word of one over another ... no matter how much foot stomping one might do.  Moreover, it appears that this person may have applied for our Corporate Advocacy Program (although it's hard to tell based upon the lack of information - and perhaps maybe this person was even offered a discount given the pricing stated in the comment?).  If this person did apply for the Corporate Advocacy Program, indeed, it is our most expensive program because it takes the most work and arguably has the most benefits associated with it.  Just see the general benefits list for the Corporate Advocacy Program for yourself.

We continue to encourage people to conduct their own research, from multiple sources, before making determinations about the integrity of a person or business.  Now more than ever it is important that people do that.

In any event, if you made it this far, we thank you for reading our response to Comment #2 and hope that now you have had an opportunity to consider Ripoff Report’s perspective too.
