Note, there are no qualifiers and disclaimers.  But after asking for my money back this is the reply:

 "In response to both of your questions below today; the money back guarantee only pertains to new equipment installation(s), not service parts."


Company was called to diagnose and repair my HVAC system, a Trane XE80, which is a common system.  The repairman diagnosed as a bad control board and told us we had two choices, buy a new system board or install a whole new unit for $7000.  It just so happened he had a replacement unit on the truck and it would cost us $980.

Later that day I looked at the unit he replaced the control board with and found it was a Honeywell S9200U1000 available everywhere for somewhere between $80-170 bucks:,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.48340889,d.dmg&fp=31a254b48afda3a7&biw=1130&bih=927

Getting a vague feeling of uh-oh, I called a couple of competitors to get quotes on replacing a control board and received five quotes around $300-350 and one for $500.  


A copy of the contract, disclaimers, and the old part were not left at the time of the repair.  A violation of Ohio law, and by which time I received a contract and disclaimers, the company had already refused to negotiate the price.

Resolution pending in Ohio Small Claims.
