BE AWARE OF HIDDEN FEES THEY ADD THEM TO THE BILL AT THE END.

I hired this company because the sales rep over the pone was very personable and promised excellent service as well as a special flat rate of $180 for my move. I moved 4 pieces of furniture (bed, dresser and 2 nightstands).

The movers showed up, very nice guys, did the job, caused a few scratches to my furniture but I decided to let it go. To my surprise the final bill was $284 not the flat $180 the sales guy promised over the phone. 

I let go of all-inclusive estimates for $225 because Lincoln, the sales guy, promised me the $180 rate so I would go with his company. Needless to say I was furious. I don't mind paying for rendered services, but I do mind being lied to and forced to pay for undisclosed fees despite my specifically asking about them.

After much back and forth the 'owner' agreed to knock down the fuel surcharge so I still had to pay $60 over the agreed amount. Nothing I could do, I had to let the movers go and agree to be scammed by a skillful sales guy. By the way, I now have to fix the deep scratches left on two of my furniture pieces. 

I don't mind paying for services when there is full disclosure and honesty, but when you lie to a customer to win business over someone else then shame on you. Highly disappointed. I feel abused as a customer. 

WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS DISHONEST BUSINESS TO ANYONE.

Leaving out some details

Sadly, the owner of the company is leaving out some important details; like the fact that he called me to threaten to "sue me for every penny to my name if I refused to remove my negative reviews from the web." I am quoting his exact words. 

The poor communication displayed by the sales team and the owner is evident by the amount of negative reviews in customer review boards like this one and directories such as http://www.yellowbot.com/thompsons-moving-inc-fort-lauderdale-fl.html. Of course, negative reviews are immediately followed by 5 star reviews singing praises to the owner of the company, I have to say in my opinion the nature of said reviews is rather questionable. I have been contacted by several people who have read my blog post about this company and feel very disappointed with what they perceived as a dishonest transaction.

Negative reviews in yellow pages were removed after a customer complained about damaged furniture and a broken glass table. Now, no reviews are allowed for Thompson Moving Inc on yellow pages. If the company is so wonderful and customers are so happy, why would the owner deprive happy customers from the ability to share their experiences?

Yes this customer did used our services, we presented all documents to the customer before the work had commence, at that point if the customer did not agree then they could have turn a way the movers, clearly the customer signed and agree to the charges before work commence. at the end of the move the customer felt like they went over their budget and decided not to pay. then it becomes a problem, we tried to work with the customer but the customer was unwilling to work with us. its our goal to provide good customer service to all customer we will never never never pratice dishonesty to a customer.

THOMPSON MOVING IS A RIP-OFF! Do not give business to them!

YES! BE AWARE OF HIDDEN FEES AND DISHONESTY FROM THIS COMPANY! I had a very similar case to the person who previously posted their review about this dishonest company. Lincoln, the friendly salesman, promised me a flat rate of 69.99 an hour. He promised me 2 strong guys and that I could do whatever I wanted, moving wise - including heavy furniture, travel time, etc. It was an excellent deal so I took it.

The 2 moving guys were friendly and did a good job. We removed all my furniture form my storage and moved them to my new place. There was a total of 50 min or so travel time. We took 5 hours to finish  everything. After that, someone called me and said I had to pay extra travel time for gas - meaning, I had to pay for labor AND the travel. They were charging me 6 hours for 5 hours of work! Plus the 18% of taxes and dishonest fees! AND, the guy had the audacity of saying that's the standard charge for moving companies!!!!

He was oh-so-good to me by giving me a discount of 15 dollars. I was disgusted by their insolence and wrote a check to get rid of them. The moving guys had the balls to ask me for an extra tip for the fast work, when I gave them a wine cooler and some mattresses that I did not want any more. if it's worth anything, I could not see any major damage on the furniture. DO NOT GIVE YOUR MONEY TO THEM!!! IT'S A RIP OFF!!!!!!
