I've read some pretty good ones on this site but this was takes the cake. I mean really. I mean it's pretty easy(for most normal people) to tell IF the gas is coming out of the pump, down the hose, out of the handle and into the car, but maybe not. Maybe she put the handle into someone else's tank by accident. Maybe she put it in the "wrong" hole. Maybe she turned the pump on and then shut it off without having pumped the gas. I see all sorts dingbats filling up their tanks, either talking on their cell phones or texting, maybe she got confused.

Well, to be honest the first thing that popped into my mind is that girlfriend spent the money somewhere else and made the story up. I read it to my hubby too and he laughed and came to the same conclusion. Ignorance is bliss though if boyfriend wants it this way.

I'm frank wende's boyfriend i was at work when she call me complaning about her gas gauge knowing you can't drive a car on "E" she didn't take a chance to drive back to the station 2 1/2 miles away i told her that it was inpossable for the pump to rip her off like you stated, but when i check the gas gauge it was on "E" then i tap the bottom of the gas tank and it was empty nothing in it...If you put 6 gal of gas in the tank you would know the sound when it had gas in it.... i make my liveing doing auto mechanic and know if it's the gas tank float or the instrument panel indicator is malfunctioning just tap the bottom of the tank....I was not there when she pump the gas but it was my $20.00 i gave her so she could drive her car to take care of other businss that she needed to do...I was the one that took her back to the station to complain about it and gave us the run around like i knew thay would so she still wants to make a federal case out of it and i can't blame her she couldn't take care of her things that needed to be done... thank you for your time frank wende's boyfriend (((Redacted)))

IF what you are (crypticly) saying is true then you need to contact the Riverside County Department of Weights and Measures(part of the Agricultural Commissioners office). They are the ones that check the accuracy of Gas Pumps. They will investigate and if there is an error(or fraud) they will take the appropriate action.
However, there are a few things that are not clear.
How did you get home? Because if your boyfriend said there was NO gas you wouldn't be able to drive the car. So there had to be at least some in the tank, which would make you wonder how he "checked".
Did you verify if your Gas Gage actually works?
What did the Pump say? Did it show you pumped $20 worth of gas?
One note, unless the station intentionally tampered with the pump, it is impossible for it to register gas as being "pumped" if no gas is going into the tank. I have had an issue at a different gas station. I was not notified that they were out of gas and they took my money. In trying to pump it I noticed that the amounts never moved from 0. After a minute or two went back in and got my money back. Now, in defense of them I did drive by there about 15 minutes later(after going to another gas station) and they did have a sign up that said "Out of Gas". So I will figure that I just happen to get there right when they ran out, and I may have been the "lucky" one who got to find that out.
