A word of warning about Tiger Direct Part Search or Partsearch.com (Don't be fooled. They are the same company)!

I recently ordered a replacement filter for my Sharp air conditioner. Because I was uncertain what the exact part was, I decided to call them first and discuss with a customer service representative. She found a part that seemed to be the right one. I explained to her very clearly that it was the air purifier within the filter, NOT the filter itself that I wanted to order. After placing me on hold for ten minutes to speak with her supervisor, she finally got back on the phone and confirmed that she had the right part. Since I had the information up on the internet, I said I would place the order online. I thanked the rep for her assistance and placed my order.

After five days, the part finally arrives and when I open it, it turns out be the WRONG PART! I had stressed over and over that this be confirmed and yet, they manage to screw it up.

So I call them back and speak with another representative who tells me that they can't accept responsibility because I placed the order online. I ask to speak with a manager at this point because it's the hottest summer in New York City in seven years and I need my AC working!!

When I speak with the manager, she repeats the same inconsiderate mantra. If I had placed it through a rep, then they could have verified the error. This means that not only do I have to wait for another five days to get the part, I have to absorb the inconvenience and costs to ship the damned part BACK to them!

I ask if they can at least accelerate the shipping of the correct part given the circumstances and I'm paying yet another shipping fee. Once again, they say no. Since I'm desperate for the part I figure, I'll just order the correct part and deal with the reprehensible customer service. I may have to pay TRIPLE SHIPPING but it's awful hot in the city and I would like to stop sweating!

Now get this: the final kicker here is that when I try to order the right part, THEY DON'T EVEN HAVE IT!! It's apparently on back order for two weeks or at least so they think. You see, they can't tell you WHEN they'll have the part until you place your order. DOESN'T THIS SEEM HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS?

I finally renounce them as this company has demonstrated the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH ONLINE OR ON THE PHONE.

** Note that the manager and reps are generally polite. It's their customer service policy that is totally unacceptable!

Summary: DO NOT TRUST TIGER DIRECT OR PARTSEARCH.COM! Apparently, there have been other complaints before mine. If you need parts, visit your manufacturer online or call them direct. They most often have the part in stock and sell it for much less. I found both to be the case. As for the return, well, I will certainly include a copy of this letter.
