While preparing the mail in portion of the rebate process I discovered that Tiger Direct had stuck the shipping label right on top of the UPC label for the monitor which is required to complete the rebate. I thought this might present a problem so I reread the confirmation email which states, "A complete, legible and non torn UPC is required as we must scan and validate the UPC code."
At this point I realized I had a problem knowing that there is no way to peel the shipping label off of the UPC label without tearing it and ruining it. I've sent numerous emails to onrebate.com as well as Tiger Direct with every detail concerning this purchase including order#, rebate offer code, email address, phone number problem encounterred and so on. asking for advice on how to deal with this problem.
The first three emails I sent to onrebate.com stated that I had not sent enough information in my email for them top respond to it. The first email from tigerdirect.com was the same story. The second email I sent to tiger direct came back as undeliverable.
I've tried to find an actual email address to send an email to but the only way they have to send them an email is through their email tool on their website which does not show their email address. It is also convenient for them as you have no way to save the sent email for evidence should you need it.
I have tried to reply to the email they sent to me telling me that I didn't provide enough information, but have not got an answer back from that either. The last couple emails I sent to onrebate have not been answered either. Their telephone customer service is just like their email customer service, designed to dodge and ignore complaints, and frustrate you to the point that you just give up.
In my opinion defacing the UPC label that is required to complete the rebate before it leaves their warehouse is blatant fraud. Selling a product at an advertised price and then charging the consumer twice as much with the promise that he will get half of it back and then setting up a situation that makes it impossible to redeem the rebate is just plain thievery.
As an individual and a small business owner I have spent several thousand dollars at Tiger Direct over the years and am just appalled that they treat any customer in this fashion, much less a long time volume customer. Obviously there are enough new suckers out there coming in that they have no need to keep a loyal customer.
