Yes, it is another little guy with a sad story about a company that appears in so many of these reports. I thank RipoffReport.com for providing a venue to share the grief with others in the similar boats makes me feel a little better that I am doing something and also providing others with advance knowledge of a questionable seller. Caveat Emptor as the Romans used to say Buyer BEWARE! - in everything you buy.

I see so many ripoff reports about tigerdirect.com on this site and CNN, etc, etc, that indicates my problem is not just in my head it is a real ripoff conspiracy. In my case, I have dealt with tigerdirect.com for many years without a problem, and have a big question in my mind about why they would go to so much trouble now for a measly $20 rebate. Maybe it is a new strategy of management to increase the bottom line dollars and they must assume that we little guys will just forget about these small dollars. What they do not seem to understand is that Americans are honest creatures of principle and we will not put up with dishonest treatment. Additionally, we will do things that provide a feeling of public service for others who may find themselves in similar circumstances. If it costs several times the worth of the rebate we are swindled out of, we will still try our best to get the truth out to our fellow American citizens.

All through this misadventure, I have been wishing I was wrong, and that I could find the mistake so that I could let this go but you fellow Ripoff-Report members know what I mean. It is just not right, and we will not take it silently! FTC and Attorneys General and Better Business Bureaus for the states that license such retailers need to be notified too, so we can try to stop unethical conduct like this. Our dollars are more important than ever since we were swindled out of our stocks and savings recently by unscrupulous rich guys. We all know the story of why retailers have rebates instead of discounts varying reports show 50% to 80% and more of rebates are never paid. I wonder what part of that is truly due to the laziness of the consumer in not mailing in a rebate that the retailers seem to suggest? In my case, I got several replies from tigerdirect.com; as you can tell if you care to read through the following long discourse. The last email Tigerdirect.com sent me appears below, along with my previous attempts to get what I thought was fair the rebate that was promised and printed prominently on the webpage (that is no longer available to view since they changed the page now). Tigerdirect.com now says it was another website; but that is not what the tigerdirect website showed at the time of purchase - it was obviously listed where I bought the items, and I even confirmed it with Tigerdirect.com company person, Estelle Kidwell, while placing the order - as the 4/22/08 email from her to me confirms. No-one I know copies the webpage when they buy anything, and it is unrealistic to think anyone would in my opinion. Web retailers are asking us to trust them, yet they make it tough to stand up for our rights when things go wrong. Maybe I should from now on.

But I will not give up on this principle because it is not fair. It is not a huge amount of money, but it angers us little consumers to be treated like idiots. I will report this to the state Attorney General for false advertising and tell everyone I know not to trust this company. I lately copied the tigerdirect.com lady who replies to the occasional ripoffreport.com complaints to see if there was any remedy there before I did anything further; but got no reply in these past 2 weeks.

The following is the email trail for my sad tale. In each email I copied my order confirmation and previous emails from Estelle Kidwell; but will not put each copy here since this is already way too long:

I just got confirmation from Paypal and it seems the $20 still did not get credited. My paypal is under a different email - xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx@aol.com. The paypal order # for your payment is (Unique Transaction ID #O-4ST00148AG531931S)- for $538.17, which is the same total as Tiger checkout. No credit for $20 appears. If this comes later, that is OK; but I wanted to make sure you know what happened so far.

Iam the person who wrote the above complaint. It took this website to get the honest action needed - this week I got notification from Paypal that $20 was credited to my account by Tigerdirect - and referenced the original sales receipt to clarify where it came from. Thanks for the help.
