On January 19th 2014 My wife and I hit a curb which popped the sidewall of our right side rear tire. This was on a Sunday. We pulled into the nearest tire place "a Midas on Ogontz ave in Cheltenham, Pa". They replaced the tire and even asked if we had a road hazard warranty with them. We don't have road hazard with Midas, its with you ( Tire's ETC.). For our convenience and Safety, we opted to buy Midas full size tire. There was a polar vortex storm headed our way and the last time we needed a replacement you had to order it. We didn't want to risk having to wait again. We took the damaged tire back to the Tires ETC where we bought it in Clifton Height for a simple exchange under the road hazard warranty. This was not simple.
The tire was a few months old with only a couple thousand miles on it. What we wanted to do was to exchange the tire (not a refund). We would keep it since we have had so many issues with these tires. We have now had two replaced and multiple repairs which you cant even find records for. The male manager and service manager both were very, very rude and ganged up on my wife. This has been our prior experience at this location. I have been to this location three times for service and dealt with Kim. Kim has always been professional and courteous . I have also had the displeasure of dealing with your manager. He is not a good person and in the wrong field. His only focus was that we should have put on the mini drove from Cheltenham back to Clifton Heights to get him to fix it. He claimed we had to have him dismount, remount and balance and that we had to buy road hazard again. That's crap.
Your manager is more concerned with getting a few bucks in a mount and balance and road hazard over the convenience and SAFETY of his customers. He claimed he can only warranty a tire on a rim. he went further to say it was Continental problem now.. I bought the tires from Tires Etc not Continental. We went back to a Midas just down the road in Springfield they removed the new tire and refunded it less the mount and balance fee under a ride guarantee policy. Since I was unavailable they even dropped off the blown tire which they mounted on the rim and even drove it back and dropped it off at your Clifton Height store. The next day I called to see if it was ready. It wasn't ready. That's crazy. Did you forget you had it? I told Kim I would be there in about 15 minutes. I arrived and it wasn't ready. I could hear the manager mutter under his breath about it. I feel he purposely delayed the entire ordeal. I waited 40 minutes longer and my car which was snow free from driving was completely covered and never even made it in a bay.
I asked Kim to just give me the tire and I would carry it out. She did as I asked. I handed her a coupon and told her I did NOT want additional road hazard as I have grown to hate the management staff at this location. She refused to accept the coupon as a matter of policy with the manager next to her agreeing. She was in no way rude, she stated policy as facts as she believed them to be. Not everything you are told is right and not everything you are used to doing a particular way is the right way. I asked for a written road hazard booklet, she had none. That was convenient. She also refused the coupon as a matter of policy as well. Road hazard is NOT a coupon or even a discount, but a credit. The coupon should not have been rejected and I should not have had to purchase a product I do NOT want. I understand I had to pay Midas for their labor for the convenience of trying their tire. That was fair. Your company is and will drive away business. I intend on sharing my thoughts via facebook, yahoo. yelp, google, rip off report, and twitter if you do not respond appropriately. I expect a refund on the road hazard and the difference of the mounting and balancing. Personally I think you should give me back the $20 I paid Midas too. I would have had them dismount a prefectly good tire if you manager was so abstinent.
P.S. My original reciepts says DOT #'s not on file. Two of my tires are original. Is it possible they were recalled and I was not notified because they were not recorded properly. That is a safety concern. Should I contact the NHTSA. I hope you have them on file somewhere as it is a $10,000 fine per concurrence. I am a concerned consumer. Management and customer service takes a strong person who does not make careless mistakes and can see customer concerns from more than one angle. You manager had NO right to tell me how to feel and whether or not I should be happy.
