I purchased a newly rebuilt high performance GM 700R4 transmission with a special build sheet description for $948.00, that contained specific parts req,d to be used with a high perf classic vehicle. The transmission received was installed in the vehicle and was driven approx 5 miles, when it lost 3rd and 4th gears, burning up the clutch paks. Upon dissasembly, it was discovered that the transmission ,indeed had not been rebuilt, except for a hyd lock up feature for the converter. This was also admitted by Kevin Karwat,he said the worker (tech) that had built my transmission, had been fired, and he indicated he would ship me out the correct warranty replacement transmission with the agreed parts build list with in 3 days. Well it took approx a month to receive a replacement Transmission, which again failed with in one mile. Upon inspection of the inside of the transmission by our local transmission perf shop,it was disclosed that the following was revealed.. This is from the repair shop here. I have your transmission gutted and in the wash cabinet. This has not been rebuilt with new parts. But indeed has the original, old, broken and briittle parts, some cracked and broken, except again, has the hyd lockup feature installed. The special hevay duty pump wasnt installed, the corvette sero, wasnt installed. new kevlar bands and Hvy Duty Sun sheld not installed. And the specific valve body lockup was installed with missing parts. It was also discovered there were 6 cylinder part used, very old and brittle seals were present, with loose bearings from a previous failure were present.
I have all documentation with the exsact parts, and build disclosure avail to email or send as might be req,d. It cost me $allmost $500.00 to have the 1st transmission fixed ,so the car would be driveable, and $882.00 to have the 2nd warranty replacement rebuilt to my original specifications, provided to Transmission Technologies. These charges do not incluide the labor charges incurred, for removal and replacement of the transmissions into my car.
