In 2001 Trips Travel (Grand Strand Palmetto Properties Inc.) sold us a membership in their vacation voucher program. Among several names this company has hid behind, Trips Platinum Plus 2005 seems to be their latest venture.

Besides poor unattentive service, within the last year Trips (Now Platinum Plus 2005), has notified us that they will no longer honor their contract with us to provide travel for the vouchers that they sold us (over $1000 in value) and that the only recourse we have is to pay outrageously inflated usage fees to use our vouchers or surrender our vouchers and PAY again to join Platinum Plus -2005 the new version of their company which only offers discounts on travel.

Obviously surrendering over $1000 in paid vacation vouchers and PAYING AGAIN to join Platinum Plus 2005 is of no interest to us. Simply we requested a refund of the remaining vouchers that they will no longer honor the contract terms upon however they refuse to do so.

They have gotten a lot of play off the recent hurricanes in the southeast and have told us that they are unable to refund us because TRIPS is insolvent [financially] related to such storms affecting prices of condos.

They do however remain in business and claim no responsibility to their previous members who have thousands of dollars in vacation vouchers that Trips sold to them.

The BBB of Coastal Carolina (see their site) has an unsatisfactory record with them related to failure to respond to complaints and several unresolved complaints. As of April 2007, the BBB has processed 88 complaints in the last 36 months for Trips.

The Attorney General's office said that they are on their radar. Both agencies contacted Trips on our behalfreceived carbon copy responses of letters that were already sent to us and eventually Trips stopped responding to their requests.

The consumer public needs to be aware of this rip-off company that holds no accountability to the customers it sells product to, and makes no attempts to right their wrongs.

You were smart to do your research. There are a lot better discount vacation companies to give your vacation dollars to.
