I contracted with Trucks on Call to pack and ship my 3 bedroom home from Urbana Maryland to San Tan Valley AZ.  I provided a list of furniture and estimated the amount of boxes that would be needed.  I was quoted aroun $4100 for packing, shipping and unloading to Arizona residence.

The comany got the wrong pick up date and I needed to work with them to get that straightend out but they did show up on time.  The supervisor who came with the movers said he would make a list of everything and he did so.  But is was not until all packing and loading of furniture onto the truck was done when he told me the estimate changed from $4100 to about $9,000 although he did take down a few hundred dollars as a favor.  I consider this scam to be a bait and swirch and as far as I know this is still illegal.  There is no way I had twice the amount of furniture and packing than I provided to them.  I actually got rid of several large items that were on the list prior to the move.

The business office is impossible to deal with.  The company does not follow the instructions you give them and arbitrarily add on charges and hold your furniture hostage if you do not agree to their outlandish charges.  I would suggest investigating all of the staff and moving workers for immigration issues and would also suggest you investigate their accounting practices and tax returns.  I did pay 60% by check when they picked up my furniture but was required to pay by cash or Postal money order in order to get the furniture delivered.  I am sure they want cash because they know you will challenge their ripoff scam.  When I asked to speak with the manager or get the manager's name my request was refused.  My dealings were with Sam (in the office) on 301-219-8656 and Severo Gonzalo on 954 701-6913 (truck driver).

They are a total ripoff company and I would not be surprised if their ripoffs include other areas as mentioned above.

I am a consultant and I feel I should charge them the rate of $250/hr I get for having to spend so muich time dealing with such rude, incompetent and unprincipaled people.  I wonder if they would like to get a bill for $1000.00 that I feel I have wasted on them if I would get that money--what are the chances?????
