My 80-year old Mother was lured into a temporary "pop-up" shop called "Life Benefits" at the Cape Cod Mall in Hyannis MA tht is an independent distributor of the Truffoire skin products. My Mom has early stage dementia. She was tired and vulnerable and took the sales girl's bait of a free sample. The salesperson made lots of false claims "Their products are cheaper and more effective than a facelift" and that some of their lotions have topical botox (no such thing exists!).

No amount of skin lotions will do anything of note to an 80-year-old woman with deep lines and wrinkles. The salesperson knew this but these people prey on the elderly. The salesperson started asking her personal questions such as "How much is your home worth?" and what do your kids do - do they make a lot of money? What is your home address? Clearly, fishing to see how far up she could raise the prices.

They have no set prices as far as my sister could tell when she went to the store the following day to talk to the manager. The salespeople make the prices up as they go along and say "One Day Only Sale!" every day. My Mom was told "Special One Day Only Sale!" and yet my sister heard that same line when she was in the store the next day.

The sales people are super aggressive and manipulative. If their product is so good, why do you need to sell it so hard? Also, Go to ANY Dermatologist office and you will find legitimate skin care products that are more effective for half the price!!!!!!

Also, the sales slip says no returns -exchange only and yet, the "store" doesn't tell you that they are a temporary, seasonal store and will be gone right after Christmas so how can you exchange anything?

When my sister spoke to the manager he was incredibly hostile and belligerent and tried to kick her out of the store. Real professional! They also have no phone number and the manufacturer of the products take ZERO responsibility for the actions of their distributors.

I filed a police report, filed a report with the State Attorney General's Office, the FTC, a local Elder Affairs legal organization, contacted the General manager of the Mall, two media outlets and speaking with a lawyer.

Apparently, these gypsies set up these "pop-up" shops all over the country and scam the elderly and tourists. They are disgusting, vile people and they need to be shut down!

lI spent more than $4000 because the consultant, Michael, told me that the results achieved after one year of monthly use of these products was GUARANTEED to last 10 years or more.  He used this lie to convince me that I was better served by this product than by the procedures (fillers and Botox) that I had panned for 2019 and that I would actually save money in the long run.  When I realized that the information provided to me made no mention of a GUARANTEE, I contacted the manufacturer directly.  There is no GUARANTEE, and the instructions for use that the consultant gave me were not those provided by the manufacturer either on their packaging or at their web site.

A return visit to the store 5 days later to get a refund resulted in my being told there was a no refund policy, but I could exchange the products for a different line by the same manufacturer.  I did not consider this response satisfactory and filed a dispute with my credit card company.  I also filed complaints with the Rhode Island and Massachusetts attorneys general.  Hot Brush LLC is registered in the State of Rhode Island with a company address in Massachusetts.

An email to the consultant went unanswered.

I returned to the store today to find it had closed.  The Cape Cod Mall office gave me a name and phone number to contact.  No one answered the phone and the voice mail box was full and could not accept messages.

I intend to continue to make reports, write negative reviews and do whatever else I can to expose these people.  I will also be making a complaint of my own on this site.
