Never sign a lease with this apartment complex. They have everything figured out to a "T". First, they'll tell you that all utilities are included in the rent, while trying to hurry with the paperwork, and will have you sign your life away. Then 3 months later, you find out that theres new management, everybody who was there prior when I originally signed the lease had either quit or was let go.

After the new people came in, I got a collections statement from electric stating that I owed them almost $400, 200 just to get electric turned on in my name for a down payment, the other 200 for electric for the last 3 months( was a small studio). Then I lost my job, was let go at my company's headquarters in Portland, OR. On the long busride home, I had found someone who was willing to take over my rent (had only 3 months left on a 9 month lease), as I was trying to move back home to NY. He stayed with me the last couple of days before I left, and he gave me the money for January's rent. He had bought furniture, silverware, dishes, and general items for the apartment. He even told me he was considering taking the apartment over in his name once my lease on the apartment was up.

Then, after about 5 weeks that he was there, the staff came up in a golf cart and told him if he was'nt out of there by the end of the day, they would call the cops on him and told him he was trespassing. After all this, he just said screw it and took off on the next bus out of town to Florida (where his mom lives). He left everything in the apartment, and I sorta feel bad for the guy. Was just trying to make a fresh start. Called the apartment 800#, spoke to the office manager and he confirmed that they told him he had to vacate the premises. When I asked why? He said they were part of the Mesa Crimewatch and can't let anyone who is not on the lease live there over a 3-4 week period. I said, while I lost my job and he was taking the payments over for me. How were they supposed to collect the rest of the rent? He basically told me it's not his problem, and that I was responsible for a break lease fee which is equal to the concessions of the rent (which basically says apartment goes for market value of $640 a month and I was paying $450 a month X the amount of months in the lease) which adds about $1,800 to the last 2 months of rent that I owe them.

This is complete bulls**t and this is why I am putting them on RipOffReport. They are completely screwing me over, when I lost my job and found a quality tenant to take over the last few months of rent who was taking care of the place and not abusing it. Absolutely no reason for this and complete lack of respect when I was always on time with my rent.

Oh, and also, it is a huge apartment complex that has a huge vacany because people don't want to move there or people are moving out all the time just because they don't want to deal with the bulls**t that goes on there because Mesa Police are there all the time, and I've even see a SWAT team there once who was negotiating with a tenant who was holding himself hostage in his apartment. Does this sound like a place you would want to move into? I sure the hell won't move back there. Sure it looks nice with the palm trees and the swimming pools with tennis courts, a nice clubhouse, etc. The staff will butter you up so that you sign your life away. But there are also alot of thieves who live there, if you leave something out, like a hammock (the guy who took my place had one, and next morning it was gone), among clothes getting stolen out of the laundry room, to just about anything valuable or not, and the staff won't do anything for you to get any of it back. One word for this property and it's management:
LEECHES LEECHES LEECHES LEECHES

Also, there was a survey done in the Mesa Newspaper, rating the 10 Worst Apartment Complexes, and Tuscany Palms was either #1 or 2 on the list.
