Tyler Schmitt, an assistant to Gary Vaynerchuck, acquried the username @Tyler on Instagram via a media request with Facebook/Instagram. I contacted Tyler to let him know that it belonged to my friend for years, but he claimed to have no knowedlge of the situation and ignored further communication. Media requests are done thru a private portal for "trusted partners" where they can request verification and usernames, recover hacked accounts, and get access to other special features. He essentially stole a digital asset and has no integrity to hop on a call to discuss.
