To all that read this,

First let me start by apologizing to all that have befriended me in this Company. I want to apologies for any negative repercussions these comments may lead to in the near future for you in your job.

My Name is Chris and until Wednesday, May 9th, of 2007, I was an employee at United Collection Bureau. I was the Training manager of said company for the last three months. Recently I came back from military duties & decided to make a career change. I had never been a collector before so to see what else I could apply my skills on I applied with them. So back on January 9th 2007, I was offered a position with United Collections Bureau. I took the job and began to learn all of the tricks of the trade when it came to collections. I really enjoyed my job and was very happy to work there. I was then given the opportunity to train new employees. The training department had an opening and I was given the chance to train new hires. Soon after this I was appointed the Training Manager due to the fact that our other trainer was no longer working for our Company.

Now to the issues I have had with them. Last week on Monday, May 7th 2007, I was involved in an accident that mourning heading to work. I was transported to a local hospital where I was treated and then released. I went home to change, and then headed to work. I was 48 (Forty Eight) minutes late that day. I came to work limping and with a sling on my right arm due to a fractured hand. Now in most companies that I have worked for, the upper management would take the time to at least show some type of concern and see how you are doing. In my case it was far from that. I was asked what happened from my immediate supervisor and then was asked why my sling was dirty. Not how are you feeling, or can you continue to work without any problems but why my sling was dirty? So then on the following day Tuesday, May 8th, I was asked by my immediate supervisor to show proof of what had happened to me on the previous day. So I received the information of my x-rays explaining where the fractures were and what conclusions the doctors had come up with after their observations. Here I am thinking that they wanted to see to what extent my injuries would hamper my abilities to perform my job duties and see if they needed to have a back up plan in case I wasn't able to perform. Well the reality soon came about.

I was asked on Wednesday afternoon, after I had produced the paperwork they asked me for, to come to the office of the Head Chief in our location. I was then informed by him that without my con cent, they called the hospital I was in to see if in fact I was there on Monday the 7th. Then he gave me two options, either to (AND I QUOTE) "come clean that I was not involved in an accident and we can move forward and put this behind us" or I was terminated unless I can explain why the hospital had no record of me being there on Monday the 7th. First I was offended at the fact that I was being called a liar by my Boss. Second hasn't he ever heard of hospital errors that later are fixed? Then with me in his office and then my consent, they called the hospital again to verify if I was in fact there or not. The hospital answered that the last time they had a record of me in the hospital was back in 2006. So then I was given an option by the Head Chief to proof that the last time I was in said hospital had nothing to do with the injuries I had suffered on Monday the 7th 2006. I was accused by the Head Chief that I fabricated the paper work they had and that I needed other proof to verify my accident and also to verify my other hospital visit. So I went back to the hospital and got the paper work on my visit on 2006. I then went ahead and also got all of the paperwork given to me at my discharge on Monday. I found out then that the hospital had made an error on the dates and that in fact I had been seen on that Monday.

So then the fun begins. I tried calling my supervisors in said company to fax them or give them everything from discharge papers (THAT WERE NEVER ASKED FOR TO BEGIN WITH) to conformations on my earlier visits to said hospital. No answers. (I have the calls recorded for future reference) So then I move up the ladder to speak to the COO of the company who is located in Davie Florida. First I was told he was out for the day. Then when I called back he was gone for the week. So then I moved up the chain of command to whom I thought was the President of the company in Ohio. Left him several messages(also recorded for future reference). Still no answer. Then finally after again trying to speak to whom I thought was the President, I get a call from the COO of the company here in Davie. He states to me (AND I QUOTE) "how can I help you? "What is the problem you are having and why are you calling the other COO of the company. After a few rounds of clarification as to who did what in the company and after a second call from said COO, I now understand why collectors and collection companies in the US are hated so much.

1)"SOME" Collectors break the law all the time. They do in fact harass, threatened and invade people's privacy.
2) UCB does not care but for one thing and one thing only. That is to make sure that they look good for their prospective clients. They DO NOT care at all for the well being or stability of their collectors or employees. I asked the COO this question and the answer was (AND I QUOTE) "NO I don't care".

3) UCB will do anything possible to get rid of you if you are not a "YES SIR/MAM" person or if you are due for a review and are going to get a salary increase. Both me and the last trainer in the this company were due our reviews/raises when we were both terminated for medical reasons. Mind you I was never late and or had missed a day of work prior to said date.

4) UCB's upper management does not care for the safety and security of the collectors in their location's. When asked to the COO why two collectors who had fought on the floor, were allowed to come back to work knowing their potential instability, the answer was (AND I QUOTE) we know what we are doing and we don't have to answer to no one.

5) Moral at UCB (MIRAMAR) is on a scale from 0 to 100 maybe a 20. Collectors see that UCB has lost a few accounts/clients as of late. UCB is also waiting for account to flourish for months that have yet to get started.

6) UCB thinks that it can contentiously get away with their illegal practices due to the fact that no one has investigated their company to the fullest extent. Someone needs to.
