Ugly Duckling / drive Time Ripoff Artists!

Well, I should have checked out the Ugly duck/drive time before I signed my life away! I was desperate for a working vehicle; if you live in So. California, you just don't take the bus. It isn't practical.

My car was falling apart and I needed new wheels asap. So I went to the damned Duck. Huge mistake. It has been just under 3 years of $300 per month payments, never late, sometimes sending in a little extra just because I could.

One day I got fired (for being pregnant) and I called the Duck to let them know and I needed to be a couple of weeks late on my payment due to the wait for my unemployment check. I was told that I am an outstanding client and am rated V.I.P. status.

The guy (Corey at the Montclair office) came up with the idea that we do a deferred payment plan. I had no idea what this was and he explained it to me and said it would be no problem to do this. I was assured that I would be accepted for this deferment.

Soon after, a couple of weeks, I start getting phone calls. NASTY phone calls that I am late on my payment and if I don't pay they will come take the car. I explained my circumstance and the deferred payment thing. Corey never put the deferrment thru!

So every couple of days for the past 4 months I have been told that they would put this thru, not one person has done what they had promised they would do! Harrassing phone calls, every couple of days for the past 4 months and my credit is shot from what is now considered LATE PAYMENTS on the d**n deffered payment thing!

I now have crappy credit, will probably never again be able to get another car, and am now a risk. just a couple of months ago I was V.I.P. status!

OHHHH, and I forgot to mention the girl that called me yesterday! She called snipping at me that my payments were late. I asked her to look at my acct on the comp. and see that I am supposed to have a deferred payment. She was a nasty little B---h! She threatened to have the car taken away on the comming friday. And when I asked to speak to a supervisor or Corey she said that "I was dealing with her now!" She got so ugly I finally hung up on her.

She called right back to harass me somemore, and my husband answered telling her I wasnt home. She responded with "Oh, sure she left the house when she was just there!" What the hell gives her the right to question where I am? She had me so upset I cried all day and started having labor contractions. I am only 7 months pregnant! Because of her and her harassing calls, and the threat of taking my car I am at risk of my baby not making it thru this pregnancy.

This company is horrible and I hope that people find out before they wast their time and money.

Also, my car is a 96 ford aspire. 2 door. nothing fancy, dents came with the car-no radio-a/c doesnt really work. paint is fadded. I bought it this way, the car is worth MAYBE $2000.00

I am paying $12,000.00

I only owe $1300 and they send me letters that I HAVE to pay it off now if I want the title. I have been a good V.I.P. paying client, and they screwed up MY credit and I have near nothing to pay off and they continue to harass me.

If anyone knows of any legal things I can do to help bring down the damned duck / drive time! I want to trash this company, if I knew of how to go about this...the news? the papers? Should I write an article and send it to every paper and news station in America?

Anyone who needs a written statement about how shoddy they are, I am willing to do that. Any advise on how to send the company to hell-I am willing to do what ever it takes!
