Complaint Review: united airlines
united airlines Rude, Stressful, Not Helpful, RIP OFF. Denver, Colorado
Second bad experience was today. I live two hours from the Denver Airport. My flight is at 1:11. I get to the airport at 11:30. I grab something to eat knowing I have enough time to get through security and make it to my gate by 12:50. Security had a bit of a line but I get through by 12:30. I don't have much experience with airports but I have never been late for a flight. My gate is B81. It's almost the furthest gate. Security probably should have told me to hurry knowing my gate was that far and seeing it was already 12:30. Anyway, I hurry to my gate and make it there at 1:01. EXACTLY. They say they close the door ten minutes before the departure time... Well I got there and the door was shut. Okay next step.. Ask the person at my gate what I should do and find the next flight. He looks at my boarding pass and says I might be able to get on the plane he just needs to ask someone. I explain to him that it's extremely important I get on the flight for many reasons. ( I am moving to Austin for three months, My bag is on the plane, I don't have any money on me to get a hotel for the evening, I don't have money for another shuttle to drive me two hours back to Vail, CO..etc) He doesn't care and continues to ignore me. It takes him six minutes to ask a lady who comes through the door from the plane if they have given my seat away. ( Now there is no way I am getting on the plane.) I calmly ask both of the united airlines employees what I should do. ( I am staring at the plane and the luggage being transferred into the plane, still. They talk and whisper for a little bit and call there supervisor over. They tell him that they need to talk to him before he can talk to me.
I sit there for another ten minutes while they talk to the supervisor.( STILL watching luggage being transferred on to my plane) He then tells me that I arrived there at 1:06 and they can do nothing to refund my ticket or use my credit for another flight. I get a little pissed and decide to go back to check in and ticketing to figure out a better solution. I get all the way back to the beginning of this horrible day. I am now at the ticket and check in. I explain to the lady the situation. She says that there is a note on the computer that I arrived at the gate at 1:06. Now I am REALLY PISSED. She then says there is a flight at 4:00 that I can possibly get on. But it's full? Why would I stay at the airport until 4:00 to see if the plane is full or not. What if it is? I now have a ride back to Vail and I have decided to go home and figure this all out on the computer. I get back to Vail ( 2 hour drive) with out my bag..etc. I call United Airlines and ask if there is any way I can get a flight for tomorrow. Of course, I can't. It's going to be a 75 dollar fee to change the flight on top of the difference in price. NOW THE PLANE TICKET IS GOING TO BE TWICE THE PRICE I PAID TO BEGIN WITH. Screw United Airlines. ALL they care about is money. They don't take care of there customers or have any type of sympathy for all the stress they have caused. Save yourself some time, money, and peace.. DON'T USE UNITED AIRLINES EVER.
