I financed a vehicle through car hop/uac that they told was the only vehicle that I qualified for at the time I was looking.  I should have known when they only wanted 100 hundred dollars for the down payment.  I purchased the vehicle in June 2010 and had it until February of 2012.  I was going to pay it off with my tax return till I did some investigating and found out that the car was repossessed and taken out of an impound lot the day they sold it to me.  UAC slipped and confirmed it over the phone.  So they resold me a repoed vechicle that they claim all their repossessed vehicles go to the auction.  I voluntarily returned the vehicle with a voluntary surrender paperwork in February 2012 after realizing that paying the 3000 they wanted for the payoff and all the repairs for the piece of crud car they sold me would cost me another 3 grand.  They refused to take the vehicle back. I dropped notarized paperwork off at their lot that I bought it from.  Funny, cuz the next thing I received was a notification that they were taking title to my vehicle and not make me liable for the remaining balance of approximately 2600 dollars.  My vehicle had not even been sold and it was confirmed that it was still on the Car Hop lot that I had returned it to.  So what I discovered is that these people are repoing and reselling vehicles to the general public.  They are issuing settlements of debt for the loan balance on an individuals account for the remaining balance of their loan.  They are reselling the cars for astronomical amounts.  What in reality is happing here is that if they repo your vehicle and they sell it for more than what your loan value is the money they earned off the vehicle should legally be returned to the person they repoed it from, in reality they are keeping this money.  In my case they tried to claim that I still owed the whole loan balance even though my vehicle had not been sold or sent to auction.  Thats the 2600 hundred and some dollars they wanted to settle for, showing it was settled on my credit credit, makes a bad rating, in my case I had paid all my payments on time, but the car was crap.  After arguing with the management at settlement time, they agreed that we would settle the account as paid in full with zero balance and no liability left on the car since they had not sold the vehicle.  Beware if you voluntary surrender or have a car repoed from these people that is how they are taking people to the cleaners by reselling their repos and not giving the victims credit for the sale of their vehicle.
