UNUM PROVIDENCE overpayment issues Portland Maine

Having trouble getting Unum to stop harseing me about overpayment. I promised to pay back what I owed when my social security came in, well it took about 4 months...so that should be all I have to pay, but they want 27,000 dollars.

They claim I have been getting SS during payment recieved from unum. I have sent every letter from social security they have on file.

The problem is that I was on a work program back in the late 80's and early 90's...none of that is in the computer, so it appears to them I have been payed the whole time...and I can not figure out away to do anything about it. It was 40,000, but I managed to dig up enough to get it down that far. They dont listen or care...I always thought the inssurance co was there to help the disabled, but now, all they want to do is ruin me...I have enough trouble with bill collectors as it is ..paying it with social security is almost impossible...well it is impossible..I have M.S. and getting harder to take care of myself..and all they want is money....what can I do..I have heard that this company is the worst of the worst when it comes to this and that the attorny general in atlanta has warned them about there practicies....I guess it went on deaf ears.

I have more on direct merchants bank too..but I will start anither one. They have a website devoted just to that bank....they allowed my interest rate to climb to 14,000 from only 2,000 that I owed...when I was in the hospital. I tried to stop them...but they did nothing and I was in no way able to pay at the time either...what away to end my retirement...stay in debt...dont have that much time left to enjoy my kids and grand kids at this rate....Well thats my spill
