US Birthcertificate Thought that I reached the Department of Vital Statistic for NJ TX

I went on line to get a copy of my birthcertiicate. I thought that I was on the page for the state that I needed. So, I filled out the information and the next day I think it was they called and wanted a copy of my marriage licence to show the name change and my driver's licence to prove who I was, and then my information to bill me. I didn't ask and they didn't say how much it was going to be. I figured $25.00 or no more then $50.00.

When I checked later on my checking account there was a charge for $134.00! When I called them the women said that that was what my state charges. So, I went on line and googled the phone number and it is a scam.  I am glad that I asked for a phone number to call back if there was a problem or I would have had no number to check on, I used my debt card and reported the fraud to my bank.
