My husband and I decided to rent out our timeshare this year as we are super broke and won't be able to use it and it would be a big waste, plus the maintenance fees are a big burden (don't buy a timeshare unless you are really rich, trust me). We contacted Vacation Property Marketing (I swear they used name Vacation Property Management before but now this name does not appear anywhere).

So they offered to advertise our timeshare for rent and sale for a one time non-refundable membership fee of $685. It's a lot of money so I started researching the net to find out if it's a legitimate company. I've been scammed before (by scammers feeding on people desperately needing a job) and I did not want to fall for pretty promises again but I could not find anything on the company. BBB didn't have their info, no scam reports, no complaints. At least not with this name. Even their website http://onlinevpm.com/index.php seemed legitimate and had a stamp of trusted site by Online Business Bureau.

The representative we spoke with called himself Andy Pintos. He urged us to make the decision quickly as they had a convention coming and that would mean a lot of potential clients. We did the verbal agreement over the phone and they sent the written contract. When we talked on the phone, he told us, our credit card would not be charged until they receive the signed contract but guess what, it was charged right that day. The contract they sent us even included paypal receipt. The contract had lots of spelling mistakes in our names (they combined mine and my husband's names, wow), the name of town and address and, as I spoke with Andy later, the email address they had on file, which was supposed to be the means by which they would send us rental offers, was wrong too so I cleared that up with them. So what then? Then we wait.

And we've been waiting like that already for 5 months. We tried contacting Andy Pintos many times and can't get in touch with him. I just wrote them a mean message on their website so I hope they get back to me soon, wonder what they'll say. I'll update you on that.

Again, I tried looking for any signs on the net of people getting scammed by them but there's no reports yet. I don't know maybe it's just a new company that just haven't scammed enough people yet or maybe it's a legitimate company that is awefully bad at what they do and can't get me a renter because they're terrible advertisers.

A little update. I searched BBB again and found Vacation Property Solutions with very similar address (not identical). Rating is F but honestly I don't trust BBB ratings. But the important thing is they reported 2 complaints for selling practices.

Now, they also seem to have updated their listing as now they do have Vacation Property Marketing listed and I was right, they did change their name (from Information Management Forum - what a name! and I googled the name, some IT company uses it). And another reason why you should not trust BBB ratings, they gave them A-. Wow. No complaints on file.

I don't think there's any chance of getting my money back. I remember that the verbal agreement we did over the phone was recorded and had a lot of legal stuff in it, for ex. "Has our representative said that we have an offer for you right now?" I really hope that I am wrong about them and they are just bad at advertising and we can still get a renter from them... one day.

Has anybody else done business with them?

I guess that will teach us. Don't pay for services they didn't perform yet. Anyway. Thanks for listening.

BOTH OUR PROPERTIES RENTED AND WE MADE PROFIT! WE WERE TREATED VERY PROFESSIONAL and SEE NO PROBLEMS WITH THIS COMPANY.

I will be the first to say something if i feel I have been duped! Absolutely without a doubt I will say something. BUT the people at VPM rented our timeshare with no problems, kept in contact with us and we profited nicely!!!  Oh I had doubts as well folks, believe it. I get phone calls all the time!!! But this company delivered on what they said they would do. I am very happy and have given them my other property as well. Hmmmm, maybe I am the oddball? I know there are scammers out there but I feel ultra comfortable with these guys and my wife as well, which is hard to do!

Like many other timeshare owners my wife and I purchased timeshare property with NO intentions of buying when we took the infamous "one hour" tour. Somehow during this process I ended up with 3 weeks in Daytona during Spring Break month BUT we have grown tired of it over the years, my son has no interest in it for his family and selling seemed a viable option. We already knew about companies that would list our property and never hear from them again, so yes, we were leery.

Phone calls upon phone calls come all the time regarding the rental of our property, or sale of it, doesn't stop as long as we are deeded timeshare owners. Come to find out that makes my wife and I public record. I get 3-4 calls a week sometimes! Anyhow...after receiving a phone call from a gentleman named Serge from Vacation Property Marketing, and listening to why their program is different I told him I would discuss it with my wife and get back with them. Yes I looked online, they seemed to check out just fine. BBB gave them a B- and Online Business Bureau has them with 0 complaints over the last 5 years or so.  I actually was online and the phone at the same time while discussing it over with Serge. I checked other companies doing the same and let me tell you folks, it is scary!! There are companies with C, D and F ratings and these guys checked out fine in comparison. Take a second and check it out. I found not one company with a higher rating, so go figure. Anyhow...

So the wife and I decided to call Serge back and give their company a try. I paid $785 upfront, was explained the laws regarding this and they took on the rental of 2 weeks out of the 3. So now we wait and see, stress a bit in the mean time if we made the right move or not, called once over the next month just to reassure myself they would be there. Serge was out of office but I did speak to another associate that said he would make sure Serge called back. next day he did and I left that conversation feeling better. I am not naive folks, I am cautious with my funds.

2 months later we received a phone call from a woman Gina. Very nice girl, articulate and professional, she said she had offers on one of the weeks and would email them to us to review as well as go over them right then and there. I was estatic to say the least. The properties were put on the market for $2500 each (told that was standard starting rate for a 2/2) with us entertaining all offers they send of course. The LOWEST offer was $940 and the highest was $2100. Obviously we took highest offer. That following week we received another call from Gina and she had offers for the second week.... which btw had offers in the price range, although someone did offer us like $500 for the week! lol, no thank you!

All my wife did was make the reservations for the company and the other family's name (the second week went to a family, not a company) and about 2-3 weeks later we received 2 separate checks in the FULL amount for the offers we took!! Worked out great!! We recouped our initial cost to sign up, rented both weeks and made decent money as well.

Sorry folks, no complaints here! I can only speak well and highly of Serge and his team as they definitely took time to explain how their program differs from a standard "listing agency" and did whatever it is they do to get my property rented! We made OVER 4 GRAND people!!!! Can you fathom how happy that made us? None the less we have told them to rent these out every year and if we decide to sell them you can bet I will have Serge and his staff handle the job!

So I can say with all confidence Serge and his crew did us right and actually exceeded our expectations. I would be the first to complain and let the world know if they had ripped us off, unfortunately not enough people praise when good is done.

It's very possible you got a bad representative that only care for himself personally? doesn't mean the rest are jerks. Call and speak to someone else. I bet that person isn't even there any longer if I was to call Serge and ask. None the less, THANK YOU Vacation Property Marketing!!

Check them out people. Check others out. Then make your decision. I can only speak for my wife and I and we are VERY VERY pleased and have recommended several other owners we know whom will surely post up their experience as well. We made $$$ :)

God Bless

They called after I left them the mean message.

So a guy from VPM called me yesterday and asked me "What's the problem?" I tell him that they were supposed to find me a renter, I paid lots of money, now the season will soon be over and I it will be too late to rent anything this year. He had no response. The entire conversation was totally pointless. He had nothing to say beside, "We assure you that we are continuesly working to get your property rented." I didn't even want to speak with him anymore. Very unprofessional. Poor customer service.

I guess we'll have to try to rent it on ebay or something because I really don't think this company will get me any results.

Stay away from them. It's a waste of money.
