Vance Roy - Roy & Associates Malpractice by Giving Misinformation for Taxes Greensburg Pennsylvania

What ever you do, do not visit this accountant. Vance Roy and Associates may have the letters "C-P-A" by their firm's name, but it is a far cry from the truth. One would think that a true Certified Public Accountant would give correct information regarding their speciatly - TAXES.

However, correct information is about the farthest thing from what you get when you enter the office. First off, you meet with the head accountant, Vance Roy, but then later find out he has someone else doing your tax return for you. This individual by the name of Steve or something close to that, will call you about three (3) or four (4) times before actually getting your tax information correct.

After your returns are finished, you will get a phone call to come and pick them up only to find out that they only file electronically if you ASK. Hello....most accountants (that are not back woods people) file electronically nowadays anyway. Then when you tell the secretary that you were never asked how you wanted them filed, she will reply in her hickish tone, "Well if ya'll want em' filed e-lectronically, you'll have to pay a $25.00 fee for us havin' to redo everything." At that point you're rather upset that you took your taxes to such idiot people and leave in disgust.

A few weeks (maybe a month) goes by after you have MAILED in your returns, and you'll get a letter addressed to your parents stating that you cannot receive your overpayment unless you make your same sex partnership legal by obtaining a marriage license from the state. Yes, that's right, even though my mom and dad are completely heterosexual, Roy and Associates, filed their return as they would a same sex couple. Now I have no problem with same sex couples...more power to you, but to not be receiving money because you were incorrectly identified as a same sex couple is absolutely ridiculous.

Now, I find out that I do not receive my economic stimulus payment because I am a student and my parents claimed me. I worked last year just as hard as everyone else who is receiving that payment, but because Vance Roy told me that being claimed by my parents would not have any affect on my payment, I am not receiving it. That just seems unfair. I have called his office regarding this misinformation but he has yet to return a phone call. I actually sat in his office and asked if being claimed by my parents would make me lose out on my stimulus payment. He simply replied, "Oh that has nothing to do with receiving your stimulus payment." I am a college student, and 23 years old. I have worked ever since I was 12 years old and I am entitled to this payment.

Vance Roy is by far THE WORST ACCOUNTANT that I have ever been to in my entire life. I would STRICTLY advise anyone to stay away from his office and to not do business with him. You will be truly sorry; and in fact, you may just miss out on a nice hefty payment that you deserve!
