Velocity EVelocity Express Leasing Inc fired unjustly Romulus Michigan

I am a past manager for VEXP I have read the reports submitted about them and they are all true. All the drivers are independent contracted drivers and sign a contract of what they are expected to do and what we negotiate to pay them. They are charged for different insurances and an "admin" fee of $25.75 to process their checks and provide uniform shirts, of which they get 5. Yet the deduction is taken every week. I am not sure but I believe it is not legal to have to pay for check processing.

The drivers are charged for equipment they may never use and if they use it, it doesn't always work and it takes a month for the deductions to stop and they are not reimbursed for what was taken.

The unnecessary deductions that are taken each week are as much of a mystery to them as it was for me. And having to explain why each payday was getting out of hand. VEXP has a certain percentage they need to keep driver pay within and if it was not met it came from the drivers' checks. I never saw a month go by without such deductions. And in today's market you can't afford to be without a job so they accept it. Per their contract if they sign the check it's basically saying that they agree to the amount and cannot fight it. Then again who can afford not to cash it because you need fuel to run the next week?

As a manager I was told by upper management that if a driver had problems with it to tell them they can be replaced with someone else. And on conference calls that was reiterated.
When we lost an account the drivers didn't know about it until the week it was supposed to end. Upper management was supposed to come in and talk to them yet they never showed up.

I am sure there are some locations that have a better time with the drivers but not here in MI.
