I had Verizon's home phone and high speed internet service for over 2 years in my previous residence. When I moved from my previous place of residence to my new residence, Verizon was no longer an offered service. So I called in and cancelled the service. I was told I would receive a final bill, but that I had direct payment so it would not be a problem, they would just have it billed from that.

Nearly a year later, I applied for a new account with their sister company Verizon Wireless only to find that I would require a gigantic deposit. So I did what any good consumer would do and checked my credit report. Lo and behold I have an unpaid final bill with Verizon California Inc.

So, I contacted them, got a hold of the collections agency, paid my bill and made them promise to remove the negative mark on my credit. It's nearly two months later and still no removal. I have filed with Experian and TransUnion to have the account removed only to have it come back as correct. I finally am having to correspond with Experian by mail and I hold on to hope that they will fix Verizon's error.

In the mean time, here I am trying to sign up for new cellular service and paying $400 a line for Verizon's mistake... Ouch! Too bad their wireless service is the best in the area.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

For safty and your credit card on-line.

AUTHOR: Frank - (U.S.A.)

If you use automatic payments using your credit cards.
Now what if you move and the company has your old address.
the credit card company will not pay to that address and company will not accept any payments if is from an old address.

Best way to fix it was to go to Verizon.com and re-enter all the information.
(Or call and give them the new address that was to be with the credit card they have on file).

The only reason is that once you cancel the account, they can send a paper bill, not Automatic payments, but since that was out of their area, They could only send it to the address on file.

I believe that there is a 30 day window from time of canceling your phone service and the Verizon.com website. So that way you could have changed the mailing address and re-entered your New credit card information including the New address.

the reason is for security.
You forget an old credit card and someone that lives in your old house can pretend to be you!. So everything has to match. From Name, address, Telephone numbers and so on....
