Vida Resorts/Grand Mayan/Cancun Vacations Privileges Membership Cancun Mexico

We were visiting Cancun and decided to see what the time share tour was all about. Signed up, showed them our credit card, ate the free buffet, took a tour, etc. etc.  When we started the sales presentation they told us they could sell ours and our friends exiting time share.  Since my friend is a real estate agent and knows Mexican real estate laws, he told them that it was highly unlikely they could sell our timeshares.  First thing they did was start to argue with him. He asked for an exact point-by-point run down of how this would happen and they couldn't tell us.  The person (now number 2) ignored what he was saying and started to pitch their resort.

First price thrown at us was a timeshare for $168,000.00.  We told him that was ridiculous and we were not at all interested in this. He thanked us, took our paperwork and put it on an outside table and said we just need to sign out and receive our gift certificates.  We sat outside and another person came out (now number 3), sat down and began talking to us and signing us out.

Led us back inside to another table put the paperwork down and said to hold on so he could get our certificates. Well another sales rep. (number 4) sat down and started talkiing to us about everything except the certificates. Then he pulls the paperwork out and tells us, "O.K. what kind of deal are we going to make."  and we said there is no deal, we are not interested in paying the kind of money they are asking for. So he gets up and says he will be right back.

A woman by the name of Roxanne Quintana sits down (number 5) and starts talking about all the wonderful attributes of the "membership", and completely ignored myself and my friend and only looked at our wives. I sat stone faced since we had been there three hours and this was not my idea of a vacation.  She kept asking our wives where they liked to vacation and was told Hawaii, Mexico, etc. etc.  She latched on and started talking about the resorts in Hawaii that they were building. I got up to go to the bathroom and actually had one of the reps. who was standing near us ask me where I thought I was going. I told him "none of your business" in spanish and he began to follow me. Since I was going to the restroom, I turned around and asked him very loud "Are you going to help me in the bathroom - Is that what they pay you for?" He turned around and walked away.

I texted my wife and friends and told them to leave the table - "just get up and walk out."  When I get back from the bathroom, my wife and friends had already began signing paperwork for their wonderful $5,000.00 membership.  I refused to sign the documents and again they started pressuring my wife and telling her all the wonderful places we could go.  The 3,000 membership dollars, the $99.00 per year membership, the 3 bedroom weekly resort rentals for $700.00 per week - Blah, blah, blah. These are all lies by the way.  Do your research and you will find none if this is true.

I signed the paperwork and told my wife that as soon as we walk out I am canceling this and Roxanne Quintana blurts out, "Just to let you know, this is non-cancellable"  Yeah right!  So we finished up, got our wonderful coupons and discounts to the places we wanted to visit and moved on. 

The next day I sent an email to the address on the envelope they gave you and let them know that I was canceling the contract per Mexican Law, that I have contacted my credit card company, and to contact me at my primary email address. When I got home, no calls, no emails - Nothing.  I worked with my credit card company and they reversed the charges on my card but never heard anything from Vida Sales, Vida Resorts, or any personnel.  

Bottom line is that their "membership" is a scam. Do not waste your time with the tour as it will take an entire day away from your vacation. They cannot sell your existing time shares! And, if you use a Visa or American Express Card, contact them immediately to reverse the charges after you email Vida to cancel the contract.  Visa gives all of their card holders a 14 day window to cancel any contract.

Do your research before visiting any time share presentation, and do not be pressured by anyone.  Don't forget, you can get up and walk away if you do not want to buy what they are offering.
