I hope that this letter can serve as warning to anyone that is interested in the company called VMC Satellite. Unfortunately, if you read this, it is likely that you have already suffered the same terrible experience as I have.

I have a similar story to most of the other complaints I have seen here against VMC Satellite. On top of being fradulent in their charges on my account, they were also most definitely the most incredibly rude service people I have ever been forced to interact with.

The problem originally occured in July of 2004 when I was sent a threatening letter from VMC (not even knowing who the company was at the time) demanding payment of $290.00 for early termination of my Dish Network Satellite service.

I would not have a problem paying VMC if there was an error on my part or if I had entered into a contract that made these stipulations clear. However, I was never advised of an early termination fee. VMC has yet to provide me with the signed contract that they say makes me responsible to pay them.... because I NEVER signed one. What makes the situation even more frustrating was that Dish Network specifically told me there would be no termination fees. In fact, I was told by Dish Network that my contract was month-to-month and that there were absolutely 'No' fees associated with disconnecting my service.

There is obviously a disconnect between Dish Network and their third party company VMC. If they follow two different return policies and provide two different contracts, then they should not be promoted as one company and one service. Also, if I entered into a contract that differed between companies than I should have been made aware of these facts upon purchase of the network. Again, I was never apprised of this conflicting information when I signed up for the service and then when I disconnected the service. This is false advertising and ILLEGAL.

I had asked VMC multiple time for a contract but was told that my contract was bound from the terms and conditions listed on their website. At the time of service, I did not own a computer... how then can I be bound to these terms?

I reported this problem to the Better Business Bureau and the Virginia Consumer Affairs. Both agencies offered little help after VMC maintained I am obligated to pay a contract I never signed and never knew existed until much too late.

I learned that VMC reported $390 fee on my credit and my option at this point is to submit a disputed credit report, which I am in the process of doing. If any class action lawsuit is brought against this company, I would be grateful to be included.
