I checked my AT&T bill today, it is emailed to me every month. Imagine my suprise when it was 14.95 + tax, more than it has been for the past year. I checked the itemized portion and found charges for VoiceMail Direct USA. I called the number listed on my bill and was questioned as to who i was and who was the person on my account. My account is listed in my spouses name. She then told me that (name here) who stated they were a member of my household added this to our home phone by using the internet. I tod her that was impossible that this was a 13 yo child we are talking about and that she does not have internet access. (i am very overprotective) She then said that (name here) had put that she was born in 1988 therefore she is 19. (WHAT?)

She then asked my name (again) my address and the name on the phone account - she billed me, don't she already have this? She then asked my childs true date of birth, i refused. I told her that she has nothing to do with my telephone bill and that i WILL not give her true date of birth to her.

I have tried, very unsucessfully to utilize the contact us and email link on the website. It says on the cancellation email that i received that even though they have the persons name, address (?), DOB, mothers maiden name, and the subscribers email address on file they would cancel the subscription and refund the cost.

I attempted to reply to the email, link through the website to the email, i have yet to call back. I want to know the answers to those questions. First off, if someone is using my information to subscribe to things that are costing me money, i want to know who it is. What if someone is attempting to steal my identity. If so, they have already begun. Otherwise, someone is playing a cruel, costly prank.

I intend to call my phone company tomorrow to ensure that NOTHING is allowed to be charged to my phone account. Even if it means blocking my account where i cannot charge to it for items such as Internet Equipment, etc.
