My sister purchased a $100.00 Walmart Visa Gift Card and when we went to use it, it had $.04. on it.
We called the 1-866 number and it told us it was at zero balance and also told us it was activated on 12/07 and $99.96 was used at a Food 4 Less on 12/08.
Our gift card was purchased on 12/16, so I gave them the activation code on the receipt and they said it was activated on 12/16 and spent on 12/17 & 12/18 in various places.
They finally gave me the card # in order for me to send a dispute letter and try to get our money back, but they did not give me the three number security code on the back.
Someone had removed the unactivated card and replaced it with a used one and when my sister activated the card they then used it.
We hope to get our money back, but I am sure it is a long process.

Whenever I purchase a gift card, I have the cashier activate it and hand it directly to me..it never leaves my sight. This prevents the cashier from making the switch!
