I was online and received a pop-up that appeared to be real. It said my computer was infected and I should download and pay a one-time charge of $99.90 to protect my computer from the trojans and viruses. I was too trusting, thinking I was doing the right thing. This morning the software does not exist on my computer and I now find out it is a fraudulent company just out to steal your money. I just called my credit card company and even tho they see the pending transaction, they cannot help me stop this. They will help me dispute this charge only after it posts on my account.
I sure wish I hadn't been so trusting and had checked this out before I downloaded this fake company's software that appears real, but now I find out I have the task of getting this trojan/worm off of my computer before it does anymore damage.
This company needs to be stopped! Immediately.

First, no legitimate antivirus provider uses popup ads.
Second, all the so called 'scans' are fake. No one can scan your computer unless you have installed software.
Third, No legitimate company uses 'drive by downloads' to promote their produce. If a program is installed without the users consent it is a scam and criminal.
When these popups appear on your screen--DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET IMMEDIATELY!! Once the rogue program has installed itself you will be treated to never ending popups, possible browser hijacks, installation of additional malware, computer crashes, slowdowns, and lots of other good stuff. Most of these programs come from Russia. Always check out the programs you install to determine their legitimacy, a quick Google search will tell you all you need to know. I have seen the 'personal antivirus' popups and knew right away they were a fraud. Also beware of antivirus 2009 and antivirus2009XE.
