If you're like me, there's nothing more frustrating than South African scams. Usually it's someone sending you an email claiming that there is someone who wants to give you alot of money if you give them all of your personal information. Well I have a feeling I found the missing link as to how your information is being used. There's a company called AppleGreenWebBuilder.com. What they do is make up a site that look fairly professional and corporate and they advertise that they can build a website for your company. The first thing they do is place websites of other companies within their porfolio section. This is to make you believe that they've done website for others. The mistake that they made, is that these are "REAL" companies, who know nothing of APPLEGREEN WEB BUILDERS.
I contacted one of the companies myself who was very upset at the notion of being connected with such a company. Here's where the ripoff takes place. I have a company that contracted AppleGreen Web builder to build a Social Network Database Site. They charged our company $3000.00. The first thing they do after taking your first partial payment is ask for you to point your domain name server to their hosting server. After a few week they then present you with a "DUMMY SITE". This is a site that they say will be your site, but it's really one of their site tricked up with your company name on it. At that point they ask for your final payment to complete the last process. Once they have that. "PRESTO" they are GONE.
What I will say is that although they have a way of scamming, once you've figured out what they're doing, they leave a trail of evidence. Address, cell phone numbers, first and last names of sales people and a trail of emails that can be traced. Right now they don't even know were on to them. We've filed a complaint with BBB so let's see if this will add to the prosecution of APPLEGREEN WEB BUILDER
