I got their name "West Coast Overhead Door" and phone from a mailing shared in my local community. They come and visit me in Feb 7, 2006. My garage door sometime does not close. I have to close manually and next time it may work. It is totally unpredictable if it is ok. They come over and work on the machine for 10 minutes and charged me $110 ($85 for visiting, $25 for the oil he left although I did not buy from him.) He claimed that he fixed it and found the issue. Since it is not predictable so I asked what to do if he did not fix it and the problem still exists. He said that I will have to replace a new one and gave me a quote of $380 and told me that I can get credits.

Two days later, the problem happened again. I called and asked them whether I can be waived from the visit charge since they did not fix the problem. They mentioned on the phone that I can get $50 dollar credit and they can come next day. Since I am not sure my availability I told them I want to call back after I checked my schedule.

I called in a minute and a woman received my call. I told my situation again and this time the credit becomes $40. I asked that I was offered to have a $50 credit. She then put me on hold forever.

I called again and she picked up the phone and again asked me on hold. Finally I get in touch with the 1st guy I told with. He this time offers me $45. I , may be like many of you, try to negotiate. I reiterate that the problem was not fixed at all and he did offer $50 credit. He insisted that he already told me that I need to replacec the operator but I did not accept at that time so he cannot give me $50. Obviously it is not true since both of us believed that he fixed the problem first time. While I tried to explained, surprisely, he hang up the phone on me 1st time.

I called again and peacefully asked why he hang up and asked how come he can treat a customer like this. I mentioned that I was refered by frields with trust on them. He said that he does not care and he said "From now you are not my customer". I do not know why he get mad, but he hang up again.

I called again this time the woman picked up the phone. I still want my credits back so I asked if they can come over. This time she said only $40 credit and I have to give them credit card number first. I asked why the credit becomes $40 and why I need to pay by credit card. She immediately said "No, from now on, you have to pay us cash. You have to mail us your check so we will come over". I keep asking and she hang up.

I called again and mentioned that please do not hang up on me I just want to talk. I mentioned that there are people like me getting their name from the mailling list. I come to them because I thought they provided good service. I still want them tio come but she refused to provide the the service while I am still within one month period. She said that she is busy and hang up.

I later found that the visiting charge is high comparing to other companies in the same area. I also found others have experience that they seem not know how to fix and they just want to sell new installation.
