I have been with this company for awhile now. In the time I have been here I have seen a lot and have experienced alot.. First off the Supervisor Tammy is a joke unless you go to her house to play cards with her she treats you like crap. We can never get our supplies when we need them. When a driver gets injured she has them drive off there routes to come within five miles of her house to file a report..

Well to top everything else off she uses the Company truck for her own personal use and drives her family around in in with her..

She in turn will go out and try to bust drivers on occasions only to find out that they end up busting her.. She has been caught by certain drivers for sleeping in the truck and for speeding both things cause us to lose our jobs and in the least get suspended. The drivers that have caught her won't say nothing cause that gives them what they need to get by with murder out here cause they now how stuff on her..

We report problems to her for her to tell us to stop complaining and just drive the trucks... She has the lowest success for being able to keep people on the trucks that she is over. We have tried to turn her in but we are not allowed to talk to no one except Ed .Just one of the people above her. Problem is they have a very close friendship calling each other all hours of the night .. So he thinks the world of her. When we call in and ask to speak to someone higher on the poll so to speak they give the phone to her and she ask what we want with that person and then responds well they are busy .

You know i was told that the program was created for full time Welfare to works people to get off the system well its so funny to see that in the north trucks 3 people are to be to each truck
CP21 2 drivers both part time
CP41 3 drivers all three part time
Cp42 2 drivers one part time one FULL time
Cp43 3 drivers all part time
cp44 1 driver part time
cp56 2 drivers 1 part time one FULL time
cp57 3 drivers 2 part time 1 full time

So how many people do you really think that the state is getting off the welfare system..well in the north trucks out of 16 or so drivers only 3 of them were from the Welfare program..

We are not allowed personal time, we don't get sick leave, vacation, we dont get Holiday pay not even for Christmas ..If we call off we had better have proof such as a dr. slip or if car breaks down then you have to fax in to the office the receipt were you bought the part and had it put on.

We have to pay for our pagers that the company Requires us to have but they never use to get a hold of us..

I think this is a waste of tax dollars seeing how the supervisior treats you and the money isnt going were it was intended.. To get Welfare people off welfare.. I could go on but i will stop for now till i see what everyone else has got to say...

First off, it is spelled Beckley, not Beckly.
We live in West Virginia, we should be able to spell the name of our counties.

You went through training and were told that the hours would vary from time to time.
You were told that there were no benefits with this job. You should have known you were not going to advance much within this particular job. You were hired as a driver and most likely, would never get employee benefits while working this job.

The supervisor very well be an incompetent supervisor. If many of you feel this way, then by all means, write up a grievance report and have your co-workers all sign it and send it to her. Maybe she doesn't realize how unprofessional she has been and once she reads it, maybe she will straighten up. If not, there is always the copy that you send to the main office. Maybe they will give her a few pointers on how to be a better supervisor. Or maybe not. Maybe they will fire everyone who signed it. But since there seems to be so many negative things with this job, leaving it shouldn't be so bad, right?

Remember there are no benefits with this job, no sick leave/pay, no vacation pay, no holiday pay...etc. Maybe you could use your experience that you gained from working here and apply for a better job somewhere else?

The trouble with this company is that there are too many inter-personal relationships going on. It's a workplace, not a meeting place. It's a job, not a club. (Ex. She said this. He did this. They're doing this. Etc.) It makes the workplace seem more worse than it is. The employees should realize that all the gossiping and hearsay that routinely goes on is just going to make themselves look bad to the supervisor(s). This is an adult workplace, not a grade school. And stop spreading rumors. Act like an adult, not a child.
"Co-workers" not "Best Buddies."

And whether the WVCP is helping the people on welfare or not remains to be seen, but I believe if a person wants to be off of welfare, they shouldn't depend on a state-run program with limited funding to do that for them.

The West Virginia Courtesy Patrol is a transitional program providing individuals the opportunity to use work experience and education as a stepping stone towards self-sufficiency.

Program Highlights

The WVCP has placed over 1200 former welfare recipients into employment at wages ranging from $5.50 - $15.54 per hour.

79% job retention rate at six-months - one of the highest in the country

The WVCP has helped WV earn over $40 million in matching funds from the United States Department of Labor and in Federal High Performance bonuses for the Department of Health and Human Resources.

Drivers are enrolled into the AmeriCorps Education Awards program and receive educational vouchers worth $4,725.00 to go towards their educational goals.

The WVCP participates in an educational partnership with the West Virginia Department of Education called the Learn and Serve Program. Courtesy Patrol personnel work with students of all ages in various school systems statewide on work ethic; proper training and safety; auto mechanics and maintenance; customer service; computer and telephone etiquette.

Recipient of three state and four national awards in the transportation, education, community service, employer and tourism arena.

Patrolling drivers and central information system play vital role in Homeland Security and Amber Alert initiatives statewide.
