I had a Western Digital hard drive I needed to RMA (send the old hard drive back, and receive a new hard drive in return). I decided to go with the Advanced RMA where I give Western Digital a credit card number to place a hold one while they send me a new drive. Once I receive the new drive I would send them back my old drive and the hold gets removed. It's a fairly simple process.

I decided to use my Bank Of America credit card instead of my debit card to avoid the hold being placed against my checking account. Keep in mind I haven't charged anything to this Bank of America credit card in over a year. The RMA process went through fine, then shortly after I noticed 2 charges placed on my card from Newegg.com. Essentially someone at Western Digital, presumably the employee who handled my RMA stole my credit card number, along with my billing information and made 2 separate purchases.

I have been in an ongoing battle with Newegg's TERRIBLE fraud customer service and Bank of Americas customer service. Ultimately it looks like I will have to cough up the money and pay for the crime committed by a Western Digital employee.

The moral of the story: Do not ever do an "Advanced RMA" with Western Digital. You never know what shady people they have hired to work their crap jobs as RMA service reps.
