we can not drive it due to it has been on repo list since we got it. repo men came to door threatend us we were going to jail in front of our kids westlake also said we were going to jail for fraud and theft because it was not in our name how can we get it in our name with out the paper work.

after many threats i told a ms.colman from westlake i was contacting the att. general she laughed at me and said i cant pay my bills but i have receipts of every payment since we got vehicle. also car lot sold camaro and it was to be applied to our bill it was not it sold for 1500.00 we have proof of that also.

we get calls all hours of day and night. threathend oldest daughter if she did not put us on phone we were not home at the time. we have 3 bills with the same due date but different amounts owed. we have no idea what we owe on this vehicle. tried to get just one person to work on this and instead we have many each one has a comment to us from we just want a free vehicle to we cant pay our bills.

we offered vehicle back to them with in the 30 days of purchase if they would void bill they said no we want our money.in letters said we have not responded but my cell phone bills reflect that i did respond many times. asked to talk to mananger was told they were the mananger. what can we do.

I did some research on Westlake Financial

I searched the web for info on this Westlake Financial. I found their website and it is pretty impressive, especially all of the options they give you for getting info on your account and making payments.

I also found out that they are a lender who specializes in the NON CONFORMING auto finance industry.

This means that they specialize in making loans to people who have proven that they could not pay in the past.

Based on everything I have read from the OP and all of the other information seen on the web, I think that the real problem is somewhere between the CAR LOT and the CUSTOMER.

As I see it Westlake Financial was simply enforcing the contract and protecting themselves. Customers cannot expect the same level of flexibility from a non conforming lender as they can from a traditional lender. They have too much at risk.

#1 Consumer Suggestion

Stacie, you should clarify a few things here

Stacie,

Your post is very confusing and hard to read as you are rambling without punctuation or capitalization, etc., and mixing issues. I read your entire post and cannot understand exactly what the rip off is. You need to identify who each party is, and not mix issues/statements.

Please identify from WHOM you actually purchased the vehicle from, and who exactly financed it. I am thinking Westlake Financial is a third party collection agency.

>>
My thoughts: Ok, you traded in a 95 Camaro for which a $2500 trade in was allowed, and paid the first payment of $255. I am confused as to whom "they" are. The car lot or the finance company. Who is who here? Why is the car lot not named here?
>>
..."car lot closed with in 30 days of purchase.we were unable to get westlake to help us get paper work to plate vehicle said we do not need title to plate it. it took until 1/23/07 to plate"...
>>
My questions: Did you not check on the licensing and bonding of the car lot? They cannot just close as you state. The bonding company can pay you for your losses, and you can go to the DMV and get the licensing and contact info on the owner of the car lot.
>>
..."we can not drive it due to it has been on repo list since we got it. repo men came to door threatend us we were going to jail in front of our kids westlake also said we were going to jail for fraud and theft because it was not in our name how can we get it in our name with out the paper work"....
>>
My comments: How does it being on a repo list keep you from driving it? FYI..You cannot go to jail for this. The repo men are full of it. Did the car lot not provide you with a sale contract and a temporary tag? If not, why not? Why would you take possession of a vehicle that you cannot prove you purchased?
>>

>>
My comments: Don't type like you talk. It is confusing. And use some capitalization and punctuation. It really helps. AND, all of this regarding the camaro you traded in was required by law to be itemized on your TRUTH IN LENDING/finance contract as a TRADE IN ALLOWANCE. Where does $1500 come in? You traded it in for $2500? Right?
>>

>>
Questions: Calls from WHOM? And, how can you not know what you owe on the vehicle? You do have a sale contract, right? You know how many payments you made, right? I fail to see the confusion here.
>>

>>
My suggestion: Do not buy a car without fully reading and understanding the contracts you are signing and get copies of each. Doing this would have eliminated this whole situation.
