Have you ever bought a really bad used car/college? I recently decided at the tender age of twenty two to make a career change, this change would Involve a lot of changes, first being a change of colleges.I attended The State University of West Georgia for three years with plans to become a teacher, due to some events in my life I decided that teaching was not for me, what to do? Where do I go? Well after taking some time off and searching for my "dream" career I decided on something in the engineering field, and what better place to obtain a degree in engineering than a Georgia engineering school.

The search led me to many places, one of which was Westwood college, AND I USE THE TERM COLLEGE LOOSELY, VERY LOOSELY!!!!! This place was more like a dentist office full of used car salesmen, from the first moment I saw the place I was suspicious, what college on the planet earth has to lease its offices, classrooms and bookstore in a building that they don't even lease solely, thats right they didn't even own the whole building, hell they didn't even own the top floor! Looks aside the place was the biggest joke I have ever come across. When I walked in for my 11:30 appointment with an Admissions Representative, I was met with paperwork about my Finical history, my parents finical history and All I wanted to do was asks some questions about the schools programs and here they are trying to pre-approve me for a loan that my parents could cosign for, needless to sat I was cautious.

The tour of the facility or campus or what ever you would call it was like a walk through of a group pf randomly scattered floors full of a hand full of classrooms with few students and even less faculty.Buy the end of the tour I was having a hard time focusing on where I was being led, but when I got there I knew what was going to happen, time to seal the deal. I sat down and the topics on my mind were of general pre-college topics, but all that the lady could focus on
was the importance of filling out the application today and paying the 100 dollar fee that was attached. I began to think what kind of college would be so eager to enroll a student with out even looking at their previous college transcripts? The discussion went on for a little longer and when the Admissions representative tried to schedule an appointment to fill out for finical aid, I got up and walked out

I was lucky to have got out of there when I did, I strongly worn all who are seeking a school ,TO NEVER,even set foot on a Westwood college "Campus", It is a scam that will cost you tens of thousands of dollars and
all you will receive is a completely useless degree.

When I was being led on the tour of the "Campus" the Admissions representative said " All our professors have many years experience in the field, we are a real field based college" and I believe him, too bad that field is full of bull s**t.

Be careful, My heart goes out to those who didn't get out when I did, good luck

I Got Out...Somewhat.

I agree with you on this Chris. I was enrolled at Westwood Midtown around March of 2007. I spent a year there and let me tell you: you're smarter than I am! I failed two courses due to the fact that I didn't have a textbook to do the assignments. Let's go deeper. Assignments for this particular class carried about 40% of your grade. In a class of about twenty students however, only 5 had textbooks! 5 students!!! So fifteen students failed this class. Speaking of books, you have a Bookstore that's the size of a holding cell. You go to the Bookstore and hand the clerk your class schedule and I can guarantee you that if you're taking four classes, you will only get one book out of four. In addition, if you're having trouble with an instructor, just leave the school. You will not win, even if the case is in your favor. I have a medical condition that does not allow me to get to school on time due to its unpredictability. I was still placed on Academic Probation due to my "class completion rate" was at 59.9% out of 60%. Note: no other lead instructor cared a bit about a class completion rate! The other leads say that as long as your G.P.A. is at at 2.5 (I was at 2.9 despite dropping two classes), you do NOT belong on Academic Probation. Discussing this with the Director of Education and/or the Executive Director will cause you to boil with anger due to the fact that Academic Probation placement is at the SOLE discretion of the Lead Instructor. The final straw was when I was taken out of classes I needed to boost my "CCR" into classes that did not count toward my degree without any notice whatsoever! Which wound up costing me more cash in books (but only got one!), more loan dollars a term, etc. Needless to say, I hauled it out of there and want to warn everybody about Westwood.
