i scheduled a move on august 2 and after careful consideration i decided to go with a company i had used before white star movers. from the start there were problems with scheduling, no estimate or table of measurement ok fine they should take care of me afterall i had used them before. well, i was terribly wrong! i had requested a semi because of the large number of personal items and they sent a box truck with three men. from the start is was hot and they did absultely nothing! they put my personal items on the street in front of my unit for 2 hour unattended while they loaded up their box truck in back of my unit a block away!! i asked several times were they going to send another truck and adam the lead mover said everything will fit on here shouldn't be a problem. vinc and eric took 6 bathroom breaks stunck up my house, and left their bottle and junk in my front yard and in my garage when they finally left for the other house.
i called to no avail to talk with mark the salesman he finally answered his phone i told me this isn't going to work i need another truck and if my things are damaged what do i do he replied we have insurance it is covered don't worry. well these people left my closets full of stuff i loaded up my car and left for the other house. they instructed me they were going to take a break 15 minutes it turned out to be about 45 minutes ( i was about to call when they arrived). once they started unloading i was very upset they put a very expensive white oriental sofa on the grass!! left my dresser on the side walk up on its end and a lazy boy sofa against the truck! i began to pray lord don't let me get mad!! when i walked outside adam said look out here she comes again she may take pictures like she did at the other place be on your toes! i stood there and asked when are you going to move this stuff his reply was when we unload the truck. i went back in and sat down. they scratched, damaged, broke my furniture, china, pictures including a new dresser, mirror, class to an oriental table, a curio cabinet that was fused shut and wouldn't open a dinette chair that adam attempted to take apart after i told him they didn't come apart! my computer table was so badly damaged it had to be thrown out!
upon finishing the move adam asked me to sign a blank report or receipt i said no! where is the rest of the information about the move. it just had my name and the movers. i asked for boxes, mirror and dish boxes that i paid for that were not listed this had happen on the previous move. the time was wrong they actually charged me for their lunch hour. i still did not argue i thought mark my salesman would take care of me after all i was his repeat customer. well he didn't after i called him he said if you have damage items call in tomorrow and carol will take the complaint and hung up. i called in and kelly said they were closing to call the next day everything wouldl be taken care of. so very reluntanly i sign and bagan to write out my concerns. adam took the contract and replied you are not going to blame me for this move! don't put nothing on that contract just pay us and file your complaint with the company tomorrow. i usuallly pay half cash the other with a money order but this time i paid cash. i told him stuff was left behind and his reply was we don't take bottles and unwrapped or unpacked items. so i went back and collect my items. i made 3 trips back and forth. i stopped at 11:00 pm night totally exhausted.
the next day i called taked to carol who took a brief report and said someone would get back with me as soon as they looked at the bill. well nobody called instead i called back a few days later and talked to kelly who said she would mail me a claim form. well li never received it instead carol took a more extensive report over the phone saying we will take care of you ms. harris don't worry we have insurance, i will give this to mark to review and the owner will get back with you. that didn't happen either so i began to call every day finally i decided to email one of the owners mark white still no reponse i did finally receive a call from kerry locke who claimed he was the owner yelling at me about my move saying he would not pay for any damages because i failed to report them in time. so for the next few weeks i continued to call leave messages and instructed them to pay me according to their insurance which was 50 cents per 100 lbs i had over 8,000 lbs do the math they just didn't want to pay me anything instead he sent a furniture repairman on august 25 who did a lousy job of fixing my chair, dresser and cabinet! white star couldn't even get this right they gave the repairman misinformation and the wrong adress had i not called he said he would have just forgotten about it and i would not have had my furniture repaired.
now comes the good part these people have no insurance it was expired the company acord liability who underwrites for vanline and markel insurance companies replied to my inquiry by saying this company no longer had a current policy with them. so basically they lied to me i have a worthless piece of paper and damaged merchandise
