On 2/24/2003, I ordered flowers for my mother on line at 1-800-flowers.net. One of the annoying pop-up windows belonged to WLI Reservation Rewards (a.k.a. Webloyalty.com, Inc.)
When you click on the window to get rid of it, it automatically signs you up for WLI Reservation Rewards membership and, an automatic credit card billing of $7.00 per month, all without my knowing authorization.
I just noticed today that I have been getting a reoccurring monthly billing for $7.00 from WLI Reservation Rewards for the past 6 months ($42.00), and I did not knowingly sign up for this membership. This is Fraud and Thievery!
I called them up today (8/26/03) and canceled the membership; they will refund me only $7.00. I am not at all happy with this companys fraudulent Internet business practice.
The (Reservation Rewards, a.k.a. Webloyalty.com) Pop-up window steals your credit card information from the on line company you are doing business with. I believe this violates Federal law.

#1 Consumer Suggestion
1-800-FLOWERS.NET is commissioned by Reservation Rewards

Every time Reservation Rewards gets an account through 1-800-flowers, the flower people collect a fee. The flower people literally give out your personal bank or credit card account information. The process occured when you purchased the flowers, not when you blocked the pop-up. I'm just trying to tell you, because this could happen over and over again. The whole process takes place in your html mark-up. You won't see it happening.
There are many other sites like this on the Internet. They can get away with it, because they inform the customer in their privacy policy. Whenever you hear phrases like: "We will customize your shopping experience". This means they will automatically hook you up, with their 2nd or 3rd party merchant.
It's sounds like you have it under control, but for peace of mind, I would change all of my account numbers. Really the best way to shop on the Internet is through your credit card, because they have a dispute department, that is familiar with this kind of rip off.
If you were ever to become a member of Classmates.com, you will go throught the exact same thing again. They are also linked to WLI-reservation-rewards.
If you run across any others out there, please let us know.
Thank you.
