Woodmen of the World, home office located in Omaha,Nebraska, but active throughout the United States is one huge scam.

In 1980 I purchased two policies from Woodmen.  I have paid my yearly premium faithfully on those two policies. Two years ago, I received a letter telling me that one of the policies had been discontinued because of lack of payment.  I began to question this, having bills and cashed checks in hand, and got no where. It took almost two years to get a response, and then a very unsatifactory one.  I was given the run-around. No one could respond, hiding behind "privacy laws". Even though I had paid the premiums and they accepted my checks yearly, I could not question the policy because another persons name was on it.

The bills I had received remained the same as always and dwhen the policy was purchased, I had been told the premiums would remain the same throughout.  However, I was never told, that each month the company pulls a specific amount of money from the money paid into them.  No one ever told me that was done. Eventually, they began to pull more monthly, calling it costs of living increase.  So, they pulled all money from the account without letting me know. In other words, they simply stole my premiums until they wiped out the account and then let me know I no longer had an account with them.

Be very wary of this insurance company.  After paying in thousands of dollars, you are likely to find out that you have nothing.  I have attempted for 2 years to correct this, I made multiple calls, wrote multiple letters and talked to agents. They are all very well-versed in NOT actually telling you what has gone on.  I resorted to contacting the state insurance commissioner and he too got a very lengthy explanation, in which the scam was well-covered. Therefore, they have done nothing wrong.  How can it be right to continue to take premiums and never contact a client to explain practices and then tell them they have nothng in the account after having paid in for 31 years?? Even after the letter arrived, I thinking it was a mistake went ahead and paid my premium for the year while I pursued an answer.  It was NOT returned.
